I found something interesting today on ebay. Kerry is selling the stuff the majority of us passed on because it wasn't close enough to oem. We are still trying to find a better solution and I am confident we will. I just love the description.. see below"

"Being offered is replacement door opening seal/weatherstripping for a Ferrari Testarossa (Boxer and other models may use the same style). The "sample" pix of the weatherstripping is red in color....this seal/weatherstripping is BLACK, as depicted in the other photos. OEM Ferrari replacements are $400+ per door if you can find them anymore and that just seemed nuts to me..............So..............I located and ordered this 99% near perfect replacement weatherstripping from a source I located in Europe. I had to purchase a minimum of 50 meters (160 feet) and therefore am selling the remainder to offset my costs and shipping. I can tell you that I have had since day one of owning my 1987 TR, a wind noise issue that drove me crazy. This STOPPED all that! I've had it installed for 2 months on my personal 1987 Testarossa...... It installs easily, grips the door opening extrusion like you wouldn't believe, forms like it's liquid, looks great and best, it looks absolutely OEM!!. FREE shipping is included to all of the lower 48 States, here in the USA. I will ship worldwide at additional costs to be determined by location."

Has it been two months? You posted here that you installed it on 1/4 of this year, and it absolutely oem!!! 99%.. Your a j*rkoff... You should be ashamed of yourself.. I will never take anything you say or post with any validity. It just sucks that we are stuck with you here on FChat.... Sickening!!

Easy Robbie. Kerry is a very resourceful guy and I personally enjoy and have benefitted from some of his conquests and mods.

True he did POST that he installed it 1/4 but he could have done it weeks ago and just got around to posting about it. As I recall he pulled the trigger and ordered it straight off once it was identified as a likely possibility. So he would have had the material for quite a while. Looking at his pics it would be hard to tell from OEM - or even notice it - unless you were looking specifically at it. Also, he is trying to SELL it - of course the description would get embellished a little. We all do that.

A little respect and tolerance and we can all get along.

Sorry Curtis, no can do.. Its misleading and I don't do that. I tell it like it is.. and we all know whats going on here. 99% and absolute oem is a crock and he knows it.. He needs a crash course on being honest. What he wrote was not hyping up.. I am an easy going guy and I agree we all work together on here to help each other out. Everyone contributes valuable information. Bottom line - Can't trust his input or what he brings to the table as far as product, he's out for himself and to turn a profit in a dishonest manner.

All I can say is WOW. You and I are friends and I am not picking a side here but I don't feel Kerry is being dishonest. Based on his pictures and his story about wind noise, I genuinely believe he feels as though the weatherstrips work well and look reasonably close. I must say that after seeing his pictures and reading about his experience, I am somewhat convinced that what is is selling is a close substitute. All in all it depends what you are looking for. It seems that if someone wants weatherstrips that seal well, look close to original and are well priced, Kerry's parts may be the ticket. If someone wants to wait until the day when you, Phil and Rob may find the 100% correct substitute, then Kerry's parts won't work. While I agree Kerry's manner has been a bit harsh at times, I feel he has been a worthwhile contributor to our TR cause and I have come to accept his shortcommings, as I am not without fault either.

Also, FWIW, I think the OEM 512TR weatherstrips (apparently the only genuine substitute) look worse than the one's that Kerry is supplying IMO.

    Wow......Feelin' the love!!

    Not OEM......99% IMO OEM.

Posted on 1/4, but got the seals in late October and in early to mid November installed and let sit and just waited to see if time and temperature fluctuations would effect it...After a couple months all is well....Guess I should have included more time sensetive details so as not to "sicken" some of the readers here and on ebay.

    Anyway the seals work....very well!

As for my masturbatory activities and prowness Mr. C....Yeah your right, I'm a jerk*ff and my prostate is lovin' it.....LOL

    Curtis & Jay,
Thanks for the props but you may wanna keep your distance, this taking the leap for the bigger good of TR owners and yeah, makin a few bucks may be catchy!

So let me toot my own horn for a moment........

When I saw there was a need for relays.....and it was found out that it took a minimum order of 50 to get the K relay at an affordable price....I bought $450 worth of them and sold dozens at my cost till no one was asking anymore here on FChat....I then went over to ebay and sold 100's of relays.......made a few bucks and fulfilled a need.

When I read that tail light sockets were not to be had, and Shamile posted that somebody had 4 used ones for a $100 each, I stepped up bought one, had it drop shipped to Verell to copy back in Sept 2009 I think..............anyway I don't need any, and I won't be selling the new ones V comes up with ....V will sell them and make a profit for his R&D, while the TR community gets a part that is needed.

I read about the door seals.........some didn't like the ones found, others I felt were taking a looooong time to take a look and testing fitment of the samples they had. I am one that just likes to get things done, quickly. So, I got a few samples, compared and made a decision that I, yes......I............liked. I picked a product, paid $700+ to get a large (minimum) quantity shipped from Europe and now I'm gonna hopefully make a few bucks,,,,,because I fronted the money and I think it's a good substitute for the no longer available OEM.

Overall I wanna keep my TR lookin' and running good, and I'm a business person who see's an opportunity and I act on it...........capitalism is fun and profitable.....not just in dollars, but in providing products and alternatives to those of us in the TR community that have drivers, not show cars.

Hey I know I get under the skin of quite a few here on FChat............I'm misunderstood and yes at times need to be straightened out. But do realize that this internet conversing leaves out the inflections and nuances that provide a means to really interpet what one might be saying, be it with a smile, a frown, with a tongue in cheek, or maybe just trying to stir the pot to relieve ones self from the mundane timing belt and what subwoofer is best threads. Please don't ever hesitate to call me out............but I'm probably one of the MOST honorable people you'd ever meet..................

There, now it's time to blow out the spit valve, remove the mouth piece and return the horn back into it's tattered and well traveled case!!

    Nuff said.................Kerry

I,100 per cent agree with Jeff (Car guy). Two Men were having a disagreement, too insult someone's Mother, is the act of an internet coward. I try to approach an internet conversation/discussion as though I was seated/ in front of that person. I very much "DOUBT!!!", that Mr. Chairman would have insulted/injected Mr. Wittig mother into the dispute if the "Two" were face 2 face.....You disagree with someone/anyone!!!.....that is what a "PM" is for.........Mark.

Lets talk about honorable... Why not say in the ebay ad that the weatherstrip is not the same diameter and that its approx. 25% smaller then the oem w/strip. If its so close why not put a side by side photo comparison in the ebay ad... What your doing is misleading people. They think the stuff your selling is 99% absolute oem. I don't owe you an apology.. and you certainly will not get one from me.. I apologize to the other FChat members for having to read this crap. Here is something I do know.. I run and operate my business with integrity and honesty. I don't mislead people on a sub standard product. If its different from oem I would state that its different but it works nicely and effectively (if so). A wise ass remark about your prostate and masturbation habits deserves one right back at ya... just with a little more bite.. and unlike you I would never have a problem saying anything I type to someones face. Maybe one day you will find that out the hard way..

Once again I apologize to the rest of the FChat community for my offensive remarks. This is over..

    Dear Ferraristi,

Oh Robbie.....just let it go. I know you're pissed....rightly so.....this is your thread.

You just have to let things roll off your back.

Kerry is like one of those annoying kids that come up to me in my Lamborghini at the traffic lights with their big winged ricer with the loud fart can. They rev the crap out of motor with lots of bluster and scream away with their tinie-winey tires when the light turns green.

Can I "walk all over them"? ....oh sure, but why bother, they're just an relatively insignificant annoyance....like Kerry :D

What Kerry does to his car....oh well, but to advertise as 99% OEM....at least TR owners here will be aware.

    ....feel bad for the rest.

    Greetings to you Robbie !

Yeah, I've been there......remember twistlock thread?

So.....are you ready to pay da F pimp yet ? :D I think the lower blood pressure will be worth it.

Despite some "interesting" posts....this thread, overall has been very valuable in researching door trim seals. I wouldn't discount your efforts and the information gathered.

Just because an "exact" trim could not be found....doesn't mean this thread was a waste.

....getting Jen dressed up was worth it. :)

The hunt continues at my end.

My Pantera needs them also and the Testarossa ones fit perfectly. The Pantera doesn't have the felt but has a woven cloth instead, in black colour. I can find rubber or fluffy but not woven.

The doors are difficult to close and really need to be slammed and I reckon that someone in its past has fitted the wrong seals. Too large in the round rubber section. I fitted the old testarossa one to the Pantera and the doors close and seal perfectly.

So the hunt continues, two fold, as the Pantera has renewed my conviction that the wrong seal, with either the rubber or 'pinch weld' section being too large will cause issues closing the door.

I picked up two more samples today, one local and one from the UK. Not keen on either of them.

Phil, that second sample you got was from Baines right? Where was the first sample from that Kerry is flogging on eBay? Just want to make sure I'm not hunting in the same field as you and Robbie.

Please continue the hunt and if you can, post the profile and type # that matches the OEM the closest.
As far as fuzz, felt, cloth or smooth, a picture would help greatly in determining whether the 400% mark-up for OEM is worth the felt finish along the inside is worth it or not .

    Thanks,

Enough with the twistlock thread already!
It's okay to disagree with the decisions another makes in how they repair their car and the methods they use.

It is NOT okay to talk down to or show disrespect to that person because of that decision. If you do it again, I will call you out on it again.

Show respect and you'll receive respect.

EVERYBODY understands that YOU want your car perfect and OEM. Good for you! Just don't belittle others for their desire NOT to be ripped off unnecessarily.

"A fool and his money are soon parted", I chose NOT to be one of those people.

I would rather get along with you than argue with you. You only get as much respect from me as you show in return.

    Give it a rest! PEACE!

Sorry to detract from the thread.

Robert you are right about the Baines sample.

However, I have failed to keep a record of the first "fuzzy" sample I got. I will have to do a big search this weekend to see if I kept the packaging somewhere.

Phil, just send me the email you got from Robbie that told you the details of the first place that he found where Kerry purchased his stuff.

I really need a sample from them to compare with the other 5 samples that I have so I can take some pictures with each sample fitted to the car and especially with the door closed to show the deformation of the rubber section.

If the entire factory seal is removed, I can lay the samples individually into the slots and I think I can take pics of the samples fitted and from that we can all make up our minds.

I have the 87 model here now so I'll do the sample fittments on that car as I wan't happy pulling my new trims off the 88 after I'd just fitted them all.

Even if you dont need the original sample, maybe you could send me that?

If you need a sample of what (Kerry) I have you only need ask! Do ya need 6 inches, a foot, I could send you a complete seal to try and then trust you would return it...........Hey I'm a team player, even though I am a capitalist!! Just ask and ye shall recieve....................Just because some of us don't need 100% OEM and 99% will suffice doesn't mean we're completely evil. This is a legit offer to help you compare, good bad or indifferent. Just ask..........via PM if that is more comfortable.

In fact I have a seal set and some other parts going to OZ here shortly...I would be more than willing to supply you with contact info for that individual, upon his agreement, so you could either see the seals in place or if not within a reasonable distance, to have the customer send you the 10-12 inches he will have left over from his installation.....less shipping costs involved (even though I can send you a 12" sample for about $12 usd)......Tryin' to work with ya here!!
