It is great how Jim holds so much stock in Pininfarina, he bought the car from them, is working with them to preserve the car and will use them as a reference to wind tunnel test the car. He also states that PF is the manufacturer, not Ferrari as so many others would say, a bold statement. I am sure that if he took the car to Ferrari Classiche for "certification" they would tell him the the car does not exist! Pininfarina built Ferraris, Ferrari stuck some parts on cars that PF designed, built and made Ferrari Famous. If Pininfarina established a "Classiche Department" I would hold stock in what they said.
Napolis, you look like a giant in the dino. does the headroom pose a problem? i don't know how tall you are, but from the looks of the photo, it seems your right temple would be banging on the glass
Strangely I fit fine. I'm 6 feet tall. I think the height of one's torso vs. the length of one's legs is the key dimension. That said Pininfarina and I have two versions of setup for this car. One is entirely original. The original version will be fitted with her original wheels and tires, seats and shocks. The one for driving will be fitted with new wheels and tires, (BTW we can now produce these wheels in any width for those who need safe wheels for their Dino Comp Cars) New seats that look exactly like the original seats but are thinner providing more head room and legroom, (The seats lift out and can be replaced in a moment) and a specially designed set of gas shocks that transmit much less shock to the 40 year old chassis. The shock change over takes about 3 hours. We've also installed a fire system but no holes were drilled and even the actuator is clipped to the dash so it doesn't change anything and can be unclipped in a second. When she's on the Lawn she will be in her original setup when she's running the Historic Targa Florio she'll be in her Road/Track Trim. Best
Jim, I really like that it appears ready to be fitted with American Plates. Was this original, or did they put that holder on for you? Dennis
Jim, Does it get hot inside? No opening windows, at least from what I can tell, and the window area must make for a fishbowl with the sun out on anything but a frigid day. Then the water tubes run through the chassis which must heat the interior some more. Interior ventilation? Thinking on a long run it might try the effectiveness of the deodorant. How is the interior noise level? With the 250LM without ear protection after about 45 minutes it got real bad. Jeff
Hi The windows open. They slide down into the doors. There is also two speed fan driven cockpit ventilation. The radiator has electric cooling fans which keep her fluids nice and cool. She has mufflers and they work really well and sound great. Best
Same chassis/engine/gearbox but different car. Dino Competizione is a one off Pininfarina Show Car built on a Ferrari Dino 206S Chassis.
Ahh Ok, I See. So a very race tested chassis and engine as well. Congrats, very fine 1 of 1 you have now.

No she's quite planted. Remember she's mid, not rear engined. If the tail starts to go opposite lock will catch her. Best
Fantastic car, Jim. One of the most incredible bubble cannopy's I've ever seen, and I have to say the best looking car ever from the rear. Period. Evocative like only..well..that car can be. Fantastic in yellow as well. Great to see that she will be on the road, loved and appreciated. Best wishes, and please keep those pics coming.
100 points doesn't mean original. I've seen cars docked points for exhaust leaks, non-running engines, non-functional radios/lights/switchs/gauges for instance.
That won't be an issue with this one. She is totally original and fully functioning. She's ready for her wind tunnel test today and her close up tommorow.
WOW just catching this thread now. Screw the judges, nobody needs to validate such a beauty. Heartfelt congratz Jim.... I know youll enjoy her well. Please drop a line when she reaches NY so I can feast mine own eyes.
Does anybody else think leading auto-magazines would be jealous of all the inside info we just click on before anybody else in media knows about it? Case in point, P4/5... You just know when some archeologist finds the Arc of the Covenant, we'll be the first to hear about when Jim puts a Ferrari engine in that too... Pininfarina gets a call... "Hey, yeah, Andrea, it's Tao-master Jim, put the crew together, fugetabout P4/5, this is bigger...REALLY vintage...Put on a pot-a Java, areodynamics are goanna be a b*itch with this one..." Jim, you know Rob Lay owes you big-time right?? _J
She sounds great. Will try to get some video up. You and your Dad should join us on the Targa Florio!
