Need to tether my T Mobile Samsung Galaxy S to my Samsung Notebook. I looked around in the Android market and see there are many free and pay choices.

Can anyone recommend one to use?

I dont mind paying for it if it works, as somebody had to put in the legwork !

FoxFi works perfectly on my Droid Razr on VZW. VZW is notorious about trying to block stuff like that so you have to pay their monthly tethering fee but it works fine.

    Nothing worked.

    Went to Amazon apps store.

    Nothing worked.

Called TMobile, guy saw my account goes back almost 14 years, several company name changes.

T Mobile rep was awesome, stayed on the home phone with me, while i installed a Samsung file called "Kies Mini" to update the firmware and software on the phone to allow tethering. Had to do this on my home PC, and enable "USB Debugging" on the phone on some unseen menu he had to tell me how to find. Phone had to be then connected via USB and updated. Took over 30 minutes to update firmware and software, he knew this and agreed to call me back by a certain time, which he did.

Install came with a T Mobile wifi hotspot app, and he understood i really wanted to run FOXFI on the phone as its free. Everything works so far as installed, need to do some browsing tomorrow with my laptop doing school work through the phone. Not sure if FOXFi has any limits on it. Been a long day, but glad I did this. They did make me a great offer on an upgrade to a Galaxy S III. Not sure I want a 2 year contact and another phone to learn though. Will post when i know more.

My Galaxy S was purchased the week they came out, mostly by accident. So its 2 1/2 years old, and had to have a major update. :)
