    Hi Guys,
I came across this stuff a while back and have wondered about using it in my gt4, it sounds really good stuff http://tetraboost.com/ and is also endorsed by http://fbhvc.co.uk/fuel-information/

I am wondering if anyone out there has used this stuff and what are their views, it seems kind of hard to get a hold of as the order form requires printing/ filling out and posting, or to leave card details on an answer phone and you can't buy it in any shops and must buy a box of eight, just seems to be marketed very tightly or am I just being paranoid??
However, the thought of my gt4 running on real lead sounds fantastic for valve seat protection.

I am using castrol valvemaster plus at the momment in my fuel which is a phosphate type of lead replacement and wondering if this tetraboost in the long run would be an advantage as I don't want to chop and change products and do damage in the long run.
    Regards
    stephen

I think you are trying to fix something that isn't broken.

We haven't had lead for longer than just about anyone on Earth and I haven't seen any problem with Ferrari motors attributable to that.

    Low octane
    Sure

    MTBE
    Sure

    Alcohol
    Sure

    No lead

    Nope

Find something to worry about that is worth the effort.

Where do I start about the worrying Brian;-)))
Great thanks, guess I just need a confidence boost.

Im just looking to see others opinions on the matter of lead, I use shell 99 in my car and she runs smooth with it so your right about trying to fix a problem that isn't there, however, I wondered about the long term effects of valve seat wear and wondered if the lead would slow the process down a bit by using the product.
    Thanks
    Stephen

After many years of no lead fuel exclusively we have seen no valve or seat problems.

Trust me, you will be rebuilding that motor or those heads for other worn out parts before the seats are a problem. We have had zero trouble with that aspect.

Waste of money and more likely to cause new problems (like sticking valves).

My understanding is that a lead substitute is only needed in cars without hardened valve seats in the head-- basically the valve seat was just machined into the cast iron of the head.

I think this was mainly a problem with British and American cars with iron heads up to 1970 or so.

Certainly any car with an aluminum alloy head would have to have steel inserts of some kind, although I suppose the manufacturer could save a tiny bit of money by using soft, cheap iron.

    Or am I wrong?

when I got my Dino I was paranoid about the valves and used Shell addative. Then I got some tetraboost - there was no doubt about it, it was significantly quieter and smoother - whether the valves benefited I don't know. I now realise that the engine will go fine without anything added but it when I tried it, it was great.

a needed additive for flat tappet cams especially at high speeds and loads. Lead not required for valve seat longevity, this was a myth invented by machine shops to promote valve seat replacement and more revenue. A phosphate additive, supplied by most cam grinders for EARLY APPLICATIONS, keeps your cam lobes alive but is DEATH on your catalytic.
