Here in San Antonio, the paper has a front page article on the passing of long time native and resident Tex Hill, a great part of Amercan Aviation history.
Blue skies and tail winds, Tex.

This was sent out a few days ago to the DFW Wing of the CAF, thought those here might appreciate it

With reference to your call today, I wish to give you an update on our good friend and long time CAF member, Tex Hill. As you know, his health has been on the decline for a long while. He has been in and out of the hospital the past 6 weeks or so with his last visit Saturday a week ago when he suffered a painful fall in the early hours of the morning. The fall caused a severe back/spinal injury which can only be relieved with strong medication. He is now back home and is in the care of hospice. I try to see him every day and to see if he or the family are in need of anything. As you can imagine, his wife and daughters are highly protective of his privacy but I would like to pass on a remarkable thing that happened this past Thursday. He sleeps most of the time but that morning, woke up and stated that he would like to have a party. Several friends were notified and arrived that afternoon to visit with the great man and which also may be a final farewell. And there were surprises. Our own John Agather has one of the finest singing voices I have ever heard and presented his version of the Mills Brothers and Frank Sinatra which Tex seemed to enjoy very much. Another old time friend played a guitar and Tex joined in by playing a harmonica. His doctor called to see if he was still with us and when he found out what was going on he rush over to join the party. Mrs Hill was rather upset about the whole event but told me yesterday that it was Tex' party and she was happy after the fact and especially that Tex survived the ordeal. When I saw him yesterday, he did rally for a short time and held my hand for a few minutes but was in no shape to visit. Today was another day of deep sleep.

Men like Tex Hill and several of my late buddies make one realize just how miniscule you are and what you think that you have accomplished is nothing.
