It is time for me to get back into my root's ie sport's car. I have wanted an NSX since they cameout and have seen some very nice early, low mileage example's ranging from low teen's to around $30K. I cannot seem to find one in the surrounding Houston area at the momemt so I'm looking for some assistance. I will state now that have an '02 Toyota 4Runner 4x4, 94K and fully loaded and I paid $17.5K for it, that I have owned less than 1yr. I spoke with my dealer today who is one of the owner's of Don McGill Toyota so the only thing I need is to find an owner who is willing to deal with having to go through the dealership with me since I am financed through Toyota Motor Credit. This way they dealership will takecare of the transaction etc etc and the owner can walk away happy and I can driveaway happy.

I can PROMISE that this deal will be between us without having any crappy salesman input and will be SMOOTH!!

Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Gregg

Can't you buy one from nsxprime.com or somewhere else, finance through your local credit union (prob better rates) and then sell the truck? It might take you a month or two to sell the truck, but those costs on making double payments on the nsx and truck will be about the same as the loss you'll receive from making a through-dealership deal. That's my take on the issue.

At 30K, it will also be a little difficult to finance a car that is over 10 years old. I love the nsx's but you'll need to go with someone who understands what kind of car and value it has.

Great insight and advice thank you, I have a credit union also. My post was like 20min after the thought so I have not checked around yet. The reason I want to go through the dealership is because I called the owner's son aka owner and got his opinion and what I specifically needed to do. I am seeing quite a few early NSX's in the $25-$30K range. I'm am also looking too only financeing the amount that I did on my 4Runner, $12.K, I put down $5K cash on a $17.5K vehicle but I can finance $15K if nedded.

I would definatley look at NSXprime, NSX trader and even craigslist. From time to time you will see one on Craigslist. There is one in Seattle listed for just under $23K. if you are confined to a certain location that will make your options limited.

I am strictly adhereing to Houston and surrounding area's. I'm hoping to go see a '91 on sat with only 64K mile's but I'm not rushing into anything.

No problem, There's 2 in the Dallas Craigslist listed on the 11th of january. The Red one looks pretty decent. (I just took a glance, i dont know the posters of the ads) I had wanted an NSX since 91 and on an impulse, finally got one in 2005 when we went into the dealership for an oil change in our TL-S. (Very fun cars) Good luck in your quest.

That would be great, I know the Houston NSX group has a decent turnout for NSX drives. (Up here in Dallas, not so much) Thats why I am on this forum, the Ferrari owners appear to have the group thing set up rather well. Maybe i'll see you at one fo the Texas gatherings.

Having gone to the www.nsxprime.com website and read some of the post I think I'll stick with my Fchat brother's and sister's, to much CivicSi kiddy talk on there. I'm not looking for an NSX to join a local chapter, I need/want another mid-engine sport's car because that's who I am. I drove nothing but MR2's for 21yr's mainly because they were mid-engined and as close as I could get to a Ferrari or other mid-engined exotic's handling. I had a 450+rwhp '92 MR2T that would have fit nicely into the group but the NSX has the line's and move's of a ballet dancer and they have actually become affordable for me.

Who know's you and I may meet up for a cruise/get together one day, nice excuse for a road trip to meet a brotha right, I just felt like I should let you know 'where I am coming from", cool? I sincerely appreciate your replie's and comment, atleast SOMEBODY's listening lol, and wanted to let you know that.

    Thank's bro,
    Gregg

No problem Gregg, dont get me wrong, my intent wasnt to push prime, I mostly read it to buy parts. It sounds like we are on the same page as far as the posting goes. I mostly like the charity drives and scavengar hunts, stuff like that where the scenery and social interaction is the goal.

thanks for listening, and who knows, one day our paths might cross.

    Dan,
You are very correct and maybe my word's were alittle hasty. I have made some great friend's through other website's, including this one, and as we all know the person you meet is not alway's the person your expected from the website. The social interaction is great and I want to get involved in some charity event's myself, that's what I really enjoy helping other's. Anyway I'm going to checkout a '91 NSX this week that has 64K mile's, a very subtle body kit with aftermarket wheel's priced at $29K. It's a sweet car but I'm not gonna rush into it that's forsure.

I had a 1991 NSX for 7 years, fantastic car! Do take your time and find a great one that has not been heavily modified or molested and definintely get a PPI completed prior to exchanging money. While the maintenance is very cheap compared to a Ferrari, you can still get hurt if you make a mistake. Make sure the car is out of "snap-ring" range and that the A/C does work ($2,000+ to fix the a/c) Clutches can get expensive as well. Stay away from turbo charged and supercharged other than Comptech and huge wheels and tires should be avoided as well. Patience in your search will reward you. If you get a good one, you will have a hard time parting with it, especially if you take it to a road course track, trust me.

    Nick,
I would be happy to join the local Houston chapter I was just put off from some of the talk on nsxprime's site. Anyway I have decided I am not going to purchase anytime soon as I need to get back on my feet financially. Although since you have two NSX's maybe we could get together on weekend for a lunch and cruise? Thank's for your reply bro I appreciate it.

    Gregg
