Hi Just want to thank everyone for all the imput they gave me in rgards to the Lamborghini Diablo. Thnks for the facts and personal opinions of each individual in my venture to make the Diablo more than it is... the kinda costs id be looking at, why leave it as it is etc. I have made my decision as to what Car I want. Having my muscle car, going to Euro-Exotic, will achieve the fast car feel at 30mph, will provide the cornering capabilities I was after but I would miss my v8 rumble and torque. I only found one car that has aftermarket parts readily available, a car that does corner like an exotic car, a car that still runs a v8 in it keeping that muscle car sound, feels like a race car when you drive it. Well so I dont tamper with a Diablo trying to make it what it isnt... Im getting myself a Ford GT. That car looks like a race car, sounds like a muscle car, corners like a supercar, an has all the parts available to turn it into more if I so choose to. Thanks everyone once again for all the imput, had I not went through all the questions I wouldnt have really found what I am really after. What I was really after 1: A v8 sounding big block 2: Torque numbers Big Blocks produce for 0-100kmh times 3: A car that looked like a race car 4: A car that could handle like a euro-exotic car 5: A car that still had a 1960s theme to it 6: A car that had racing heritage, as in a car thats got WINS behind it 7: A car that felt fast even if ur just cruising due to the nature of its design 8: A car that had aftermarket parts available to turn it into more than it is THe only car that ticks all those points off is a Ford GT. Runs a v8, sounds like a muscle car, Has big torque numbers, looks identical to the Ford GT40 Race car of the 1960s and thus still holds the 60s race car theme in 2005+, Corners better than all the ferraris on Top-Gears test track, Dominate Lemans for 6 years in a row vs ferrari, lambo, and whoever else raced in there giving it that heritage I was after, feels anything but slow and being Ford it has parts everywhere for not that much $. So thank you everyone. As much as I never wanted Ford being a Dodge person... its really the only car that provides the aspects of a Vehicle I have wanted. No point getting a Diablo, and then pulling it appart to make it something it isnt when the GT is there, available, alot less $$$ and is everything I wanted in 1 car.
Hey No I owned 1968 Dodge Chargers x2. Im not buying a GT now, its what I am working towards owning rather than the Diablo. I will have a few Ferraris inbetween (for sale purposes to make some extra $$$ so I can then afford the GT while enjoying the hard ride the ferraris provide) I will get pictures of my 68 Charger soon as I am getting my first DSLR camera this week. Woho!
At the risk of being shot, I agree with your choice. The GT is an amazing looking car over a normal diablo. The only diablo I prefer would be the Diablo GT but the price is double. The Diablo's future is interesting. Old timers will stop at the Countach as the last real lambo made (pre-anniv). New guys will prefer the murcies with more power and gadgets.
Yes, but I predict the Diablo's future looks good....with a large middle group that appreciates: It is the last Lambo to bear Gandini's signature! Along with its very Italian exotic look (unlike later cars to a certain degree), improved ergonomics (over the Countach), and real Lambo raw and pure feel (which some say was slowly but surely lost as German ownership continued). The Diablo also has limited production ~3000 total vs ~2000 total for Countach, then up 25% to ~4000 total for Murci and bazillions of Gallardos. I think is it interesting that the top car production went in 1000 units steps like that........ I'm sure it is a coincidence. I see, in several years, the same dynamic that has existed with all of Lambos top models. The earlier passes the replacement in value after about thirty years after introduction. Cases in point: Generally speaking: Miura lagged Countach until ~2000; Countach lagged Diablo until ~2010; Diablo will pass Murci around 2020. We have to remember that relative performance has nothing to do with it, as the newer car will always outperform the older, but collectors don't care. They care about the performance for the period. Just look at old Speedsters with 0-60 mph in 12 seconds being worth more than any other mass produced (> 5000 units) Porsche since, all of which were faster.
What did I suggest you on post # 48? http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=322138&page=3 And your response was on post # 49?
The Ford Gt is a nice looking car , but it is no way a Lamborghini Diablo , and anybody can have a V-8 in their car, lots of cars have V-8 `s , but a V-12 Diablo is something very very special , i do not expect you to understand that , as long as your happy when you eventually get it .
Dear Lamborghinisti, So..after all this final decision making....did you ever test drive a Diablo? Try one out before you buy that Ford GT based on just the specs. Shamile Freeze...Miami Vice !
sit in the F-GT before you buy one, and drive one, my head hits the headliner, if i could have fit in one without mods I would have bought one...tracking one with a helmet would be out of the question for me..
+100 And the doors.....panties don't go down with a Fort GT. And the V8, although great, is pretty much what is in many new Mustang variants. Still all cool, but not a V12 Lambo...........
I don`t think its possible to understand or grasp what it is about the Diablo that is so special without at least driving the car, i mean you could see one driving , or maybe theres a car you got up close to and checked out , but until your in there driving it , hearing it , feeling it , in the seat of your pants, its a thing a V-8 i don`t think can give you , i don`t care what chassis its in , or how many turbos it has . , just imo .
Dear Lamborghinisti, Bawhahahaha....couldn't have said it better myself... Ohhh Yeah! 12 cylinders baby! Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice !
Shutting the door felt like a guillotine coming after me. Still, I would love one. I think that they should do pretty good on the value holding as well. Pretty cool that Ford even bothered to build it as well.
I'm sorry to be negative again but how are you going to achieve this? I'm going to assume a ford GT40 replica?
