I was in Hugenot NY (that's near Port Jervis) today when the sky's opened up and the deluge started. I made it a mile on rt 209S when I went to shift into 4th and the clutch went to the floor.

S%#t!!!!! I knew the clutch cable snapped.

I managed to get the car into 4th & traveled about 10 miles into Port Jervis where I finally had to stop for a red light. Couldn't get the dang car into gear for nothing! all those rev matchings wouldn't do anything this time. Fortunately, the light was 50' from Phil's ford.

Bob the service manager must have taken pity on a poor drenched soul who's car was stuck down the road. I was able to start the car in 1st gear (didn't know I could do that!) and pull it into the bay. Bob put the 308 on a lift & saw the snapped cable (just out of the under-body tube at the traveler wheel for you 308 folks). Any chance getting a 308 clutch cable on Friday at 3:30? Yeah, Right. So bob went home to get a cable splice (local tru-value was out) and 3 1/2 hours later (we lost 1.5" of cable splicing it so we had to loosen all three adjustment ends including the clutch) I was back on the road shifting gingerly to get home.

He charged me 1.5 hours labor (the shop closes at 5) but we were there until 7.

To the WHOLE crew at Phil's Ford, a major thank-you!
If you want a Ford and you want folks you can trust, this is the place.

Of course all the mechanics needed their pictures taken "working" on the Ferrari. One mechanic brought his family back (5 year old son loves Ferrari) to check out the car. Yes they got a nice tip and I had a few new Ferrari shirts which I gladly gave them.

And Kudos to Dean Romer at WWoC for finding me a clutch cable and having it shipped for Tuesday!

Nice. That was a pleasant end to a bad situation. Good things happen to good people.

Side Note: You really didnt know how to get a car started in 1st gear? I just lost a half of a tenth of a millionth of a point of respect for you.

I knew you could push start a car in 1st & start it, but I didn't think the starter would be able to get the car going fast enough to do it. But it did. Poor starter :(

It's domestic dealers like that who really understand cars, and the enthusiasm they bring.

    Glad you got home!!

Glad to hear that all worked out nicely for you, Clyde. You probably made some of their day just as great as they did yours!
