I just wanted to say thanks and goodbye, I’ve sold the 308 and time to move onto the next project. I’ve had fun restoring and driving the Ferrari, especially the trip to Italy my wife and I took this June. This forum has been the best I’ve ever used and I will miss you all. Steve

It's a Lotus Esprit, It almost looks the same and it will eat the Ferrari from a standing start.....I know the 308 I had was a USA spec "Slow one" but the Lotus has the edge due to the turbo.

    Oh, man.

    I've got the torches . . . Who's got the pitchforks? ;)

    What Esprit did you score?

BTW - 2 reasons to stick around:

We've got a British Car subforum here.
Just as you may seek advice there, someone will benefit from your 308 experience on this subforum.

Yes, there are quite a few Lotus folks here - no need to leave the forum!

The majority of my time (and posts) here was as a non-owner (I've had a 308 for 2 years now).

I am from Norfolk, born in Gorleston, actually met Colin Chapman, I was only 9 years old at the time but, he came to visit my fathers factory as he was interested in what my dad was doing with glass-fibre, still nice to have met him. Yes, the new project is already in the garage and stripped as we speak, and yes, I’ll stick around on Fchat.

Its tricky to talk about the Esprit on this forum since its better than the Ferrari in so many ways. Much stiffer chassis, better handling, faster, none of the "cant put too many miles on it" cachet.
I bought my first Esprit in 1985. Currently doing a rolling restoration on this one. Hoping to get it out the garage for the first time in a few days time.

The interior of this car is absolutely stunning. I have spent time just sitting in it! Its like the day it came out the factory. The PO who is a friend of mine owned it since 1986 and kept the leather in tip top condition. Theres not a single mark or scuff on it.

I will get pics when I get it out of the garage and post in the British Car forum.
