Thanks for your advice in buying a 360. I got a 99 Red Modena with F1 trans. Paid $66,500. 24,035 miles from a nice fellow in Hollywood, California. Got it inspected at Black Horse on La Cienaga. Needed $800 in work to pass the California smog inspection. Had that work done at Auto Gallery in the San Fernando Valley. Very reasonable.

I had wanted a Ferrari ever since I had spent two years in Italy on an LDS (Mormon) mission. I had had only a couple of test rides with other sellers. Had never driven one until the test drive after I had agreed to purchase.

It was almost a religious experience. Was surprised by the brutal acceleration (imagine zero to 60 on Sunset Blvd. in the middle of Hollywood in under 5 seconds). Surprisingly similar to my father's 1968 427 Corvette I used to terrorize the citizens of Los Angeles with back in the early 70's.

When I walk into my garage I am still shocked. "There's a Ferrari in my garage!"

Surprised by the big deal my friends and family have made over it.

I try to be humble and never tell anyone about it. But my daughter posted photos on Facebook so the whole world knows.

Thanks again for your great assistance.

Big congratulations! What radio head unit is installed there? What are the features? Do you like it so far?
I ask because I have a similar style unit, and my whole sound system was redone (by me).

    Enjoy the feeling!

The receiver is a Kenwood Exelon that does not work very well. The screen is stuck in the out position (knew that going in). Have been studying the threads here on FC and have been thinking about the Clarion NZ503. What did you install?

I highly recommend the NZ503, I installed mine shortly after purchase and love all of the features... It sounds awesome, although I did upgrade all of the speakers with Focal and JL components.

Mine is a Kenwood KVT 516:
Kenwood KVT-516 DVD receiver at Crutchfield.com

I guess it is out of production now. I have been very happy with my Kenwood unit - I do use the bluetooth phone, navi, and iPod integration most often. Also, mine is equipped with a backup camera, which is pretty darn handy - I love that function. My screen still works fine - pops out when I start the car, and retracts when I kill the ignition.

I've only had one problem with this unit, and it wasn't the unit's fault. We had a bad ground in the back of the car associated with the backup camera, so once we fixed that, everything was ok.

It's a little bit of a pain that you have to go through the settings process every spring and redo EVERYTHING if the car is stored for the winter with the battery switched off. But, that's about the worst of it. That likely won't be a problem for you, lucky boy.

I had this first and then had everything "downstream" stock (i.e. speakers). It was horrendous. So, I replaced all the speakers, added a Sub from Mike @ Scuderia Audio, and added an amplifier (amp and speakers are all Alpine) and have been thrilled. It's not a competition level sound system, but it satisfied my goal which was sound clarity and high volume.

Good luck with the car - any thing else you plan to do soon? I've been toying with installing a laser jammer, as more and more local LEO are using laser in my area.

Beautiful car and well bought. I like the wheels as I'm not a fan of the stock starfish ones. Enjoy your car in good health. Congrats

Kevin - there are a few threads going on about stereo upgrades. It all depends on what you want. Want to keep the original Blaupunkt but upgrade speakers, add amp, add separate bluetooth (Parrot), and iPod capability? What a modern head unit that looks semi-stock that has all built in? Want a motorized 7" touchscreen with everything built in plus a ton more capability that looks nothing like stock (what I did)? Ferrari is inrtoducing the last option, which is a Ferrari branded Clarion NZ503 unit. Mike (Softwaredrone here) make some great speaker enclosures with matching leather that allow bigger subs, Focal and Hertz (among others) have MUCH better fronts with crossovers, tons of amp choices, and on and on... all up to you!

Thanks, to be honest I prefer the "look" of the original but I needed the features and performance of this one. You can get most of the features with a radio that is closer to the OEM design but I figured it's either OEM or it isn't, so went with this as it has everything and then some... Of course I kept the Blaupunkt and all oem components (the oem speakers are junk, and the tweeters are scrap!).

Me too. Why should you sacrifice functionality and get a unit that doesn't "look" as modern? Having all the original stuff like you do means that the next guy with my car (if there ever is a next guy with my car - I try not to think about him too much on a regular basis) can do whatever he pleases - it's all there. In the mean time, I'm gonna do me and enjoy my Ferrari the way I want it!!!
Edit: I was gonna upload a pic of my head unit, in the deployed and stowed position, but I have just reviewed my files and I don't have such pics! I better get on that...

A CS or good after market exhaust! Almost never use the radio, actually I wish it didn't have one.
