you're welcome. just don't catch on fire, you hear? :)

seriously, just looking out for each other. rob and i were initially a little confused as to how someone on fchat could have time to make a post on the site but not bother to stop and see who it was and if they needed help. this was without seeing the pictures, though, and now looking at the pictures i guess pretty much what had happened had happened by the time the poster had driven by, so there wasn't really anything to stop for by then.

I was in the east bound left lane headed towards the island, this accident occured in the west bound lanes at the Queens BLVD. exit. There was so much traffic and confusion, all I thought was to yell to my wife, give me the camera, give me the camera. The firetrucks had just left the scene as I passed. The driver was already gone. The police were just waiting for the wrecker AND I had my 5 month old son in the car. If I had gotten there earlier, I definitely would have stopped to make sure everyone involved was OK. It all happenned so quick. Sorry I don't have more info.

No need to be sorry, you gave us more info than any of us had! And it sounds like you were reasonable and then some given a pretty crazy moment.

When just hearing of these things you almost never quite picture them as they actually are. I, for one, heard of a "360 on fire on the LIE" and envisioned a still-burning 360, standstill traffic (since I had just driven back through slow-moving traffic), lots of room all around (for no real reason at all), and that kind of created my image of how easy it would be to stop and see what's up. Certainly not what the actual scene was like, though, as one realizes a bit after the initial shock of "oh ****! Someone just posted about a 360 on fire on the LIE"

Thanks again for looking out and letting us know what you saw!

No need to apologize - the pictures are very helpful, and you alerted everybody on the board. Did you see an ambulance? Where are/were the other cars? What was 1010 saying? So many questions!

I saw a Black Toyota Camry with what looked like very minimal damage. The front bumper of the 360 was about 50 feet back down the road from the car fully intact. It was extremely weird. I immediately said to my wife, how the hell could the car have burned in the front? It seems as if the other side of the car which I couldn't get in the pics was much more heavily damaged than the side we all see in the pics. I was trying to figure out what happened while passing at 10 MPH, taking pics, and not trying to crash the X5 into the wall with my wife screaming at me to watch the wall, watch the wall. It was a little hairy for a time. 1010 wins simply said there was a 3 car accident with 1 of the cars on fire. The LIE was closed Westbound for a bit while the firetrucks were there. I saw 5 or 6 trucks leave the scene. That's an unusual amount of fire trucks for your everyday car accident. It all went by so quick. Anyway, that's all I got.
