Although my car was tightly, sealed, Ivan's remnants found their way inside...

The hurricane didn't come to Georgia, but we got a taste, what with strong winds and lots of rain hitting us today (and tomorrow)... After a few unsightly incidents with very sudden rain here in the south, i've learned my lesson; if the sky isn't completely clear, put your top up...!!!

So i did. Rolled the windows up, too... My car was tightly sealed BEFORE the storm made it to Atlanta...

Hours after the storm; the rain had settled down; i went out to my car to have a cigarette. i open the door and there it is. A @#$%ing POOL of water in the driver's side footwell...! Wait. It gets better. The footwell BEHIND the driver's seat is FILLED with water, as well. The seat itself...? Bone dry. Passenger's seat and back seats...? Bone dry. Passenger's front and rear footwells...? Bone dry. WTF...? If i have a leak, where is it...? This and other mysteries of the world remain unexplained... With all the pics of you & from what I've heard from other members, I never pictured you a type of person that drove a Sebring Convertible.

Make sure - when you get a chance - to give it a good cleaning - make sure you take the carpets out - or take your car to a professional carpet (house) cleaning company (or have them come to you). They can make sure your carpets are cleaned and dried. If you don't get them pretty dried out - you will have a very nasty smell and mildew to deal with.

Had a buddy that left his top down during a big rain - he cleaned it up as well as he could - about 2 weeks later it started to have a bad musty smell - he ended up replacing the carpets due to the mildew... It still smells a little funny (He has leather seats and it got down into the padding) and he couldn't get those dried out properly...

Oh crap Carbon, I hope your ECU for your car is not on the floorboard. Those are not cheap items to replace.

Unfortunately, it's an echo of advice i've already heard...

...because i, too, have left my car out in the rain with the top down. Thankfully, the seats are cloth and a dehumidifier in a closed garage performs nothing short of magic; of course, a trip to the car wash for a full detail afterwards, doesn't hurt, either...

However, a trip to the carwash for a full interior clean is gonna be around $100 (if not more and, if i'm there i might as well get the exterior done, right...?) and i need to save my money for The French Quarter Classic coming up...

i'll figure out a way to get this cleaned; the musty smell from the last time is so faint, you can barely smell it, so i was kinda missing it anyway...

 

i don't even know if i have an ECU (i barely know what an ECU is), but the first thing i did when i saw the puddle was start the car... But it definitely drives, just check out this thread...

You should've got your hands on a shopvac as soon as you saw it and cleaned it yourself. Ive had that happen before one time when a randoma dn sudden rain storm happened and I got out the shop vac as soon as I got home and it was fine.

 

Electronic Control Unit, it’s the brain for your car. With out it, you’re going nowhere. Most ECU’s found on the floorboard underneath the carpet on the passenger’s side or mounted on the lower part of the A pillar (where the door is mounted). Hopefully you’re going to be OK, Get to a shop vac & get that Carpet out ASAP, go have dried & cleaned at a detail shop. You can manage a day or so with out it.

Seriously though! When you get it dried go find a cleaning supply store (industrial) and buy a bottle of air freshener! The stuff the cleaning co’s use to get the smell out of damaged carpets. It’s strong and cheaper than paying someone to do it.

you might have a hole in the floor/missing plug either that or the seals on your door might be rooted. hop in the car and get somebody to hose the door you may be able to see if its leaking

 

NNO mate i know you like nice cars, but a swimming pool in yours, thats going a bit far.
