Yikes: Million dollar drop as wine tumbles

Was Pap above ground when this happened?! :D

Fortunately it wasn't Yellow Tail; I wouldn't be able to afford it if the price got any higher!

Why would a guy put everything on one forklift? You have to figure the "what if factor".

I guess it's the Never put all your eggs in one basket syndrome?

Man, one more reason the Aussie wine market is in the dumpster. Fires in the past couple of years, millions of gallons of surplus grape juice having to be shipped, bottled, and re-labeled for the Asian market at a huge loss, and, to me, quality has gone down the toilet.

I can think of a few producers that I like from Aus. but the majority is sweet, syrup-like, unbalanced wine.

Mostly agree. This would have been a real tragedy if the bottles had some age. It was a 2010! Not as bad.

Perhaps the forklift driver had been sampling the cargo?

Is Yellow Tail that good or was it ironical? I've noticed them in a supermarket here, but can't remember the price...

The cases were all inside a container - so a container forklift (big sucker).

Any wine that has a nitrogen capsule inside and you have to shake before opening then pour scares me!
Actually, I had some '09 last wknd and it wasn't half bad!

Yellowtail is great if you have a date you don't really care to be with or are having a large party with people that guzzle rather than enjoy wine!

    It's cheap dreck....but to each his/her own!
