From the lurking I've done on this DG, I think a lot of people would like to thank Dave, but I would like to thank him personally for all the honest communication and support over the last couple of months.
My good news is that I am now the proud owner of Dave's 308GT4. It's now living in reduced circumstances in my tiny garage in Seattle.
My bad news its the transport company delivered it with the lower valence and front grill in the back seat, so my first Ferrari ownership experience is getting an estimate for repair. To give you another idea what Dave is like--he called and emailed immediately with advice and has been trying to find parts for me!
This section of FChat has been a huge help too. I'm no Dave, but I am going to work on her myself (after the body repairs) and I'll try to contribute back. --Gregg

happy to see Dave's car in good hands. Terrible what the transport company did to you. Which transport did you use?

Welcome to the 308 community, Gregg! :)

You'll find a lot of helpful people here.

And yes, please let us know the transporter, so that future 308s can avoid damage . . .

    Cheers,

    Tony K.

These threads have of way of rearing their heads years after they were originally posted so I'd like to go on record as a reference for any future person thinking of doing a "deal" with Gregg. I thought he was honest, interesting, easy to deal with, and had a great love for his family which tells a lot about a guy. If any of you are thinking about trading cars, parts, or dollars with him please do so in the comfort of knowing your deal will go as planned.

Fair the well little GT4 may you run free for many years to come under Gregg's reign.

    Gregg,

You've got yourself one beautiful, loved GT4. Dave, the grape stomper, would only take care of his Ferrari, as he does, his vines.

    Drive her in good health,

    Hank

Did they damage the upholstery putting that in the back seat? How dumb! I would have been furious..

Right!! As for the shipper, they should pay for any and all damages. We know it didn't leave Dave that way.

    Upset,

    Hank

Thanks for the warm welcome! It really is a lovely car, I can't wait to drive it when it doesn't have a huge radiator-lined rock catcher in the front.

I have no idea how it happened. The valence was ripped from the rivets that attach it to the fenders, so perhaps it cought on something backing up. But the big ole Hella spotlights were smashed from the front as well. And this was after Dave left a note in the car with a diagram of the shift pattern!

The transit company seems willing to might it all right, so I'll leave them un-named for now. I promise the whole story as it resolves out.

    Cheers, Gregg

Congrats on the acquisition, and +1 on Dave, he is a great guy. And his wine is wonderful, I bought a case awhile back, I sent him some pics of my car, he made the bottle labels out of it. Too cool.

WHOOO HOOO! Congrats on a great purchase!
VERY sorry to hear about the lower valance! I hope it gets repaired easily and quickly. Mine is getting replaced right now due to previous damage and general old age. I had it patched once before, but she can't take another patch job.

    Was the grille damaged?

Be sure to call around as the prices on the lower valance/grilles vary wildly!

Gregg, I'm sure it will all work out just fine... why? Because of the pleasant tone of your post when so many would have been screaming and whining about the damage. It's hard luck, but hopefully means all will go smoothly for the car in the future. Happy driving!
