A quick thanks to whomever is organizing the NER events for 2006! I just looked at the most recent FCA Bulletin, and the NE Region has the most events by far. Since I'm new to F-car ownership and really don't know anyone yet, I'm not sure who to thank....but I hope to meet many of you at the events. Thanks to everyone who is planning them!

To my knowledge most of the hard work starts with Dennis.
When weather breaks we all can get together and meet. Keep on eye on this section for any events planed around Boston area.

    Welcome to Fchat.

I'm glad to see you appreciate all the hard work Dennis and the FCA/NER puts into this. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this region is one of the most active. Anyways while on the topic of events who will be in Windsor Locks next weekend? I will be there. BTW I would also like to thank Dennis and the FCA/NER for all the spectacular events they put on.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! But all y'all should know - it is ***NOT*** just me. Indeed, it's not even close to that.

The New England Region of the Ferrari Club of America has become one of the busiest regions in the country. We have lots of great events throughout the year, from shows like the Ferrari Concorso in Hartford, the Tutto Italiano show in Boston, to track events at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen to weekend drives to VT, Maine and RI, and even purely social stuff, like our annual meeting last year with Steve Matchett and Sam Posey. Check out our website, especially the PAST and COMING events section: www.fca-newengland.org

All of these events are possible because of the enthusiasm, energy and dedication of our entire board - and to say that it's any one person really doesn't give credit where credit is due. Dave Friar is my co-Director, and gives tirelessly. His wife Fiona does probably 4x the amount of work that Dave and I put in - combined. You should recognize also other directors and members that run events and things behind the scenes. Bruce Ledoux, our new Mass Chapter President, who is running several events and planning a few new ones. John Nichols, our new VT Chapter President (taking over from Todd Lockwood), who is planning an all new VT weekend in July. Glenn Farrell, all-around great guy and ME Chap president who's running the Maine weekend in October. Paul and Darry Bova, who blew us all away last year with the inaugural Festa di Ferrari down in Stamford. Sam Hallowell, who is running an expanded Rhode Island Tour in September, with tours of historic mansions, dinner aboard a train, cruises on sailboats, and more. Not to mention new events coming up this year from other members, like Ara Gechijian, Dave Castelhano, and a few surprises too.

As for our biggest, most complicated event, the Concorso in Hartford, we have to thank the slavishly hard working members of the Concorso Committee, who labored for - literally - a year to put on this great event: Rosemary Lombardo for coordinating the Village event; Peter G. Lombardo for serving as Chief Judge and doing a thousand other things (along with his son, Peter A., of F40 Motorsports); Bob, Carmela, Jim and Maria LaRosa for arranging for thousands of dollars of regalia and food sales, and arranging the kids greetings; Charlie Vest (who also slaves away endlessly as our membership chair) for all his hard work coordinating the parade with a thousand different parties; and Stanley Cohen for his enthusiasm and his ability to drum up support (and so much more from all of our committee members, both in terms of time and money). Full credit must also be given to the invaluable Special Members of the committee, and, of course, our sponsors and volunteers (for a full listing, see Horse Tales, our newsletter from the fall). Dave and Fiona Friar are the ones without whom, truly, Concorso would not have happened. They've donated massive amounts of their time, money and the services of their architectural and design firm to pull this off. My (very large) hat is off to them and all of our directors, and I'm honored to call them my friends.

Once you join online, please send your contact info to Charlie Vest, our membership Chair ([email protected]) so he can include you in our regional DB, because info from national sometimes takes a month or two to catch up to us. That way, you'll make sure to receive a copy of Horse Tales, our most excellent newsletter.

Are you asking if the FCA is showing the race on Sunday? I ask because you've been coming to various FCA events for years now, but still haven't joined.

Of course, many of our events do NOT require membership, as we're trying to support the Ferrari community as a whole in New England, but we do encourage people to join if they have fun, like the people and want to do more. (After all, it's a little unfair to those who pay the dues every year, which support many of our events and our infrastructure, to have others just tag-along for years).

    vty,

Yes, I know, it's the annual "become a member" spiel. Still no plans to do so. I attend events to chat and look around, but I do not mooch the hors doerves hehe

Seriously, I will consider becoming a member if my diabolical Swedish bikini team plan materializes for the Mondial. I really want to take advantage of having the 3 passenger seats and having some memorable F-car drives. ;)

Maybe I will pay to show at Tutto, and walk away with a prize. ( depends on how the FCA guys judge the nonpayers hehe) Us tag-a-longers with F cars are still not too shabby compared to those with no F cars.

    Dennis,

Wow, the 2006 events are many and with good variety! My wife saw the Boston events and said we should attend them for sure. Many thanks for also listing Celebrazione Italiana.

Mr. DadsFerrari, pony up please as membership has benefits you are missing.

Hey enjoythemusic, I thought we were the lone holdouts on paying the man!! I guess you got converted.. ehehe

I am sure the benefits would be nice. I will definitely join once I wrestle the Mondial title out of the cold hands of the "Dads" 2nd wife. Then I will be out in full force with you guys. Right now my Mondial useage is on the down low, don't want her finding out about it in FCA events in case she googles it. Gotta watch my back Jacks

Well, there is a line between being a rebel and being a mooch. Sure i was a rebel, but then the Empire region had this great track event last year so i spent five days (including Skip Barber,... a present from my wife) at Lime Rock in July. There are other things, but i love track days. Am also a member of the Ferrari Owners Club, COM Sports, SCCA soon... Mooching can be fun, i know it. Yet at some point, well, look, Dennis and many others truly take the time to make sure there are some cool events. Tell ya what, maybe you can pitch in during a few events. Ya know, kinda like Community Service as it were. What say you?

Ummm... wow. i dunno what to say. Do what i did and work hard, save $$, and buy your own. Then you will never have to worry about ex's :)

Sure thing, I will lend a hand and do whatever I can to help the cause. Its' hard to do much when I was unceremoniously cut off from the FCA email list. ( I have no clue how I got on the list, I guess bringing an F car to an event did the trick hehe)

In case Sherms place is not on the list this year, I would gladly offer an alternate NH location nearby that would also offer awesome amenities. The Mondial has been a bitter pill for me in my life, yes I could buy myself the same duplicate car if I cared to, but my real intention is to eventually retake ownership from the evildoers that took it away. I was a huge fan of Italian cars as a kid, but I have gone in other directions since then as far as my sports car ownership is concerned. When I finagle the Mondial keys on occasion, it's just for kicks- I keep the emotions out of it as much as possible. ( Hence not joining FCA as a reminder)

Lending a hand is a good thing. Perhaps at the upcoming KTR European event you can help with food pre/serve? David C of KTR wants me to bring my fancy-pants Italian espresso machine so i'll be making espresso/cappuccino (using some very special beans i got hooked on while in Brazil). Please note i am just a member of FCA and DO NOT speak for them, though if you offer to help with things it shows your willingness to be an active part and give of yourself and sharing the passion.

Virtually all officers hate domestic disputes and guess i should follow suit concerning the Mondial. 308's are out there and are fairly inexpensive right now... as are other models. But yeah, i can understand the whole sentimental thing of having something a family member had. FYI: When i drive on the track i wear my deceased brother's diving chronograph watch. i use Dad's old cigarette lighter for cigars... For me, it is the feeling of 'connection.'

I have the KTR event in mind, especially if this is the one with the dyno runs scheduled. At most, I attend 3-4 events, some with the Mondial. Most of the ones I have been at were at FoNe where the Mondi has paid its' share of rent to say the least. (engine out)

I have been on a cruise and dinner that had a fee, and I have been to Sherms to just stare at his cars. Regardless, I will help out when I am representing with the F car to say the least.

I definitely can appreciate the words you wrote about your brother and father, I try to make the best of the circumstances regarding the Mondial and the politics involved on my side. If we get a chance to chat at a meet, I know I will be able to provide some good hearted comedy to say the least ;)

Nice! And yes Saturday at KTR is DYno with various cars including an F40, MAYBE (but not sure) a 333SP... and my 308 as well.

Look forward to seeing you at KTR. BTW, only 2 days before KTR i will have spent four consecutive days at Watkins Glenn and will bring some video. As for humor...

Yes it is true, the guy who everyone (including my parents) thought would always be a single guy is now married. How does that song go? Oh yeah... Big Bad Bill is Sweet William now...

Over a year ago i met this amazing woman... and the rest is glorious HIStory. We got engaged in September atop the Eiffel Tower, married a week later in Bellagio (Italy), and honeymooned in Barcelona during their Merce' 05 festival. MAN those Spaniards can PARRR-TEEE!!!

Linda prefers i do not post photos of her online though if you attend an few FCA-NER or Empire State track events this year i am sure you will meet her.

Enjoy the Music (Van Halen before they su<ked right now... with a few writer's embellishments),

    Steven

"Well, way down yonder in Racingville,
Lived a cat named Big Bad Bill,
    I wants to tell ya,
Ah the cat was rough and tough and would strutt his stuff
Had the whole town scared to death,
When he drove by they all held their breath,
He's a fighting man, sure enough

And then Bill got himself a wife,
Now he leads a different life...

Big Bad Bill is Sweet Steve now,
Married life done changed him somehow,
He's the man the town used to fear,
Now they all call him sweet pappa Stevie dear,
    Stronger than Samson I declare,
Til the brown skinned woman bobbed his hair

Big Bad Steve don't fight any more, (No he don't)
Doing the dishes, mopping up that floor (Yes he is)
Well he used to go out driving looking for a fight,
Now he gotta see that woman, everynight..."
