Big thanks to Tom at Sport Auto in Summerfield, NC. www.sportauto.us What a super guy and great mechanic. I took my 2000 360F1 down there this week for the dreaded Cam belt service. Since my car is 12 years old and has 19k miles on it, I figured I ought to get this done. Yes, contrary to what they you have heard, the cam belt does NOT self-destruct every 5 years or 15k miles.

I had purchased the Hill engineering bearings previously from Daniel at Ricambi,(which Tom uses and recommends anyhow) so those went on as well. Tom was gracious enough to entertain my DIY questions, chat about 328's and his challenge car experiences. I previously did all the 30k service myself (except for the cam belt), and have a couple other little projects to do on her this winter(replace door cables, track down AC unit non-functioning issue, and fix compressor on horn that has stopped working), and Tom was kind enough to give suggestions on those issues.

He gave me updates along the way and said that if it had been his car, he would have just left the belt on and bearings in place after his inspection of them. The current OEM ones looked perfect and nothing wrong with them. But, alas a little piece of mind is a good thing. See pictures of old, yet perfect belt.

Along with that, I had their crack detailer, Mark, do his magic as well. I couldn't get back down there to pick her up today, so for a very reasonable fee, ($300), they brought her back in enclosed trailer and delivered her.

All in all, a great experience, and no it wasn't that expensive! $1000 labor and $300 for parts, so you gotta love that.

My variators were done when the campaign was first started, so under warranty.
Yes, you should get the variators done asap!

Nice! I have a lot to do before I can roll mine again, but I look forward to scaring the wildlife around town this spring!
