Looking at getting personalized tags for the 328. Had a few tags run thru MVA to see if they were alredy taken. Check this out, the tag "FERRARI" is already in use registrered to a 1986 Pontiac. I guess it is a kit car.

Geezzzzus that does suck! I'm willing to bet in addition to the plate, that Pontiac owner couldn't put enough badges and emblems on the car to hide the obvious fact that it isn't a Ferrari.

Hey Pontiac won the 24 hours of Daytona for the last 2 years. Seems fair to me.

What luck--The tag I really want is available-I think. I ran it a few different ways and MVA has NO RECORD of it.

I never quite understand why somebody would like to put "Ferrari" or any derivative of it on a license plate of a Ferrari. I mean isn't it quite obvious that it is a Ferrari?

On a somewhat related note: I met a guy with a Daytona Spyder and he told me, that he couldn't get 365 GTS4. I just nodded but didn't have the heart to tell him, that I have seen precisely that plate on a replica Daytona. Tough luck.

A friend of mine has an MR-2. He painted it red, pulled all the toyota badges off and put Ferrari ones on. He even did it to the inside AND added a Pinifarina badge on the drivers side. The most interesting part is that he is 40 years old, not 16.

Oh sure. They called mine a Lambo or a Mustang at some point. But do I care what they think if they're not even able to read the logo on the back or front?

Personally I prefer clever signs like "Cop b8".

I used to get vanity plates all the time. Now I just get whatever serial # the DMV spews out. If someone doesn't know what I'm driving, then so be it.

It's almost more of a statement to just stick an ordinary plate on your Ferrari. There really is nothing cooler than a red Ferrari with something like '5HTK683' on it. The secret hidden message is: "This is a car. I paid my registration fees. Pay attention if you want, or don't. Whatever."

    My two lira...

In '86 Pontiac sold a rebodied Fiero that looked like a 308. Driving down the road you would not know the difference. I can't remember what it was called. I'm sure that is the car it is on.

That would be a Mera. A friend of mine used to have one and after he had some work done to the exhaust it sounded actually better than the real 308 he bought afterwards. The irony.

I think some tags are very clever and funny. That one is funny, but there are ****** cops that will stop you for tags like that. I would never do it, but I know some are out there.

Just be careful what you put on it if you do get pulled over. Back in the 80's I read in a R&T about a Boxer with a plate that read, FO55MPH. No way you're talking your way out of a ticket with that on the back of your Ferrari

Have a friend that has 'BQZTWQI' on one of his Rollers.

I once asked him what the letters stood for, he said, 'nothing'. Said he did it so people would go nuts trying to figure out what it meant!

Maybe this is the reason the Pontiac has a Ferrari tag....I don't remember the year when California went to 7 letters but there were thousands of requests for "Ferrari". The lucky person who received the tag put the Ferrari license plate on a Pinto. He immediatley put the Pinto for sale at a price of $8000. He sold the car to a Ferrari owner who wanted the tag.

About a year ago on eBay I saw FERRARI stamped on an older early-80's California plate. Was asking around 10k. If legit, that plate must have seen a lot in its life!
