I always thought "UNKNOWN" would be a good one ever since I once got a parking ticket and under make of vehicle the cop wrote "Unknown". (It was an 84 Plymouth Colt with no emblems......LOL) Hmmmm......
Let's see now: Ferrari has been around for over 50 years. Personalized plates have been around for over 20 years in most states. So within the past 20 years, every Ferrari owner in Maryland was so lazy that they let a Pontiac owner walk into the DMV before they did and scarf up the FERRARI personalized license plate. Score one for Pontiac boy.
Even though it sounds clever, NONE, NOPLATE and UNKNOWN would all be headaches for the actual owner of such a plate. I knew someone who held NONE in California and he was charged with several hundred parking tickets a year that he had to regularly clear off his record.
Yes, the guy who had NONE was a co-worker at HP about 20 years ago. Don't know if he still has it or if DMV permits it anymore (due to the headaches).
Heh. I've always wanted to do something like that...maybe: 1II11I or WVVWWVVW or O00O0, etc... A friend tried one of those in NYS, and got a rejection from the DMV claiming, well, that he was trying to get an intentionally obscure plate. nlh
