...as per Andrew Peace of Car Magazine (UK).

I was flipping through the March issue of Car and I started reading an article about armored cars, and armored BMW's in particular. Inside of this article is a box with a list of world's 10 most dangerous cities. I'll list them as they are listed (which doesn't seem to be in any particular order of severity):

    Baghdad, Iraq
    Karachi, Pakistan
    Camden, New Jersey
    Ciudad Del Este, Paraguay
    Tirana, Albania
    Guatemala City
    Abidjan, Ivory Coast
    Kabul, Afghanistan
    Moscow, Russia
    Algiers, Algeria

Camden, New Jersey!!! I live 5 miles from Camden! Holy ****! Under each city Andrew lists a few reasons why the cities are on the list. Here Camden is described as "...the undisputed all-American crime capital." I always new that Camden was bad but damn!!

I'm curious as to why Medellin, Columbia is not on that list. I've always heard it is one of the worst cities in the world for all crimes (murder, kindnappings, etc.)

I would like to see what stats they are using for thier list. Maybe they have been watching to many mafia movies? Camden is not the best area, but it is far and away a safer place than cities in Africa/South America that I have been to...

Hey, Yo, I'm near Detroit! What about us??? The hip-hop, thug, low-life mayor has 18 body guards and a police-esque Ford Navigator... It must be bad.

Oops... The Superbowl will be ok though, just bring kevlar..

Glad to see my current home for the next 3 months (New Delhi) isn't on that list. Hands down the worst/craziest traffic I've ever seen.

I've thought and long and hard on how to succinctly describe it and here goes: "Imagine driving if there were no laws or road rage and you could do whatever you want." That pretty much sums it up over here.

I would have thought Jo-Burg ZA. Scared the crap out of me when living there.

I would have thought Newark or East Orange....Camden...South Jersey....I will stay in North Jersey.

Not a word about Baltimore. We have a murder rate that is 3 times higher than LA, 5 times higher than NY, with 1/4 the people at least (only 650K). So far there have been at least 45 murders, with a murder every day in January.

but violent crime is down. So they are not beating you up anymore, just shooting you.

Finally....for once.....my second home (Rio de Janeiro) didn't make one of these kinds of surveys.

Not that it would have been warranted anyways.

I second a vote for ol' B-more. My gf lives there (school) so I vist a lot and cringe every time I head that way. I'm a big guy so most people don't bother with me most of the time, but it still sucks walking around there. 3 of the 4 girls in my gf's house (including her) had their cars broken into w/in a week of moving in. SE DC is pretty damn bad too, but I think it's been getting a bit better as of late.

I have been in Karachi and Camden, and both are 'experiences.' I would NEVER travel in Karachi without 2 body guards armed with MP5's. I wish I had them when I was in Camden!
    Haha! So true!
I live here too, it definitely is an 'amusing' city.

I was watching a story on Rio de Janeiro on BBC and they said there were about 10,000 murders in 2002 alone.

That list doesn't make sense to me except for Baghdad, Kabul & Russia. Im wondering if the research was based on the amount of Armored cars bought and used to determine Dangerous-ity since it was from some car magazine. I've heard of cities with crime rates like you couldn't even imagine and they're nowhere to be found on this list.
