The first pic is the engine number, you have #0000172 of that series design...F129'B00' sounds pretty special too, that refers to the design specification.

Very horny pictures:) I have to say though. On an ultimate engine like this running at the le mans, using a 355 block and probably internals like rods ect ect. I have to wonder why did they still use the single serpentine cambelt?
Fine engine that brother:) Love the detail shots.

Man if you have to ask a question like that, you truly don't deserve that fine piece of historic engineering:rolleyes: I shall be down tomorrow morning to collect it :)

    Thanks for the tip Justin.

Deals done and the airbox should be here in a few days time.

Thanks also to Morry at www.collectorstudio.com. He's a fellow Fchatter as well.

The box is off Micheal Schumachers 1997 F1 car which was raced early in the season.

"1997 Ferrari F310B engine airbox cover ex- Michael Schumacher. All carbon fiber with Ferrari shield, measuring 22x10x5". From the '046' engine."

It will be used as part of the airbox we will be building for the engine.

Just need Schumey to sign it for me.

    Forgot to add....

    The engine uses race plugs.

    Champion A55V

These plugs are now obsolete, so will have to find a replacement.

    Any suggestions?

They assumed it was adequate to make it through an entire race.

    WOW Sy!!!

The F129B is the same type block Ferrari uses in the 355.
I'll bet that they first tested it in the Le Mans cars from 1994? Sort of how the Mondial T was the test bed for the 348.

This is VERY interesting. You have an E X T R E M E L Y RARE engine Sy. Talk about hitting the jackpot bro! I would even go as far to see if the factory has more info on the history of this engine.

Will ask when I next talk to Simpsons.

Hopefully Silverstone in April, but I have to run the engine in first. :(

Always knew it was a special engine (sambomydog doesn't let me forget it!!!!) hence why we are spending $$$$ doing it properly.

I'm visiting the Ferrari Factory in April, so if possible will try and find out then.

Good idea. Will call them first thing monday morning.

    For you sir, anything. :D

    They fit really well.

First of all, i think the car is ready when the car is ready. It will find its own completion date. So if its not ready for April it does not matter.
Secondly had i had the cash that engine may have been mine during the time that you were dithering:) A 348 Le Mans engine in a 355!!! Now that's novel :)

I can't make out the Gates belt number.

I can see the 5475-174 x 28mm, but what are the numbers on the other side? All I can make out is 3--A-

Will take a better pic next time I'm there.

Also going to try and fit the 348 cambelt on it and see what the problem was.

Got the info from NGK Technical. Very imprtessed with their response time. Only sent the email last night. :D

The Champion number you have quoted is an equivalent to an "11" heat range in NGK. The closest we have available in the UK is a heat range hotter R2349-10 (Stock code 6839, £44.34+VAT), however this may be too hot for your application so we advise you carry out some testing to see if this heat range is suitable.

R2349-11 is produced by NGK, but unfortunately has not been made available to us in the UK market, so you would have to carry out some internet searches to try and find if any distributors worldwide stock this product and are willing to export it. Unfortunately we do not have any information available to us of which market this is produced for.

The NGK part number mentioned above is a resisted plug compared to your original Champion which we believe is non-resisted. Provided your ignition system is at least coil based and in good operating condition, running resisted plugs should cause you no issues.
