For clarity, let's post all discussion of 456/550/575 BaT auctions here...
Why.... We have a pretty good 456 sales thread And multiple 550/575 threads. BaT has been the hot new trend lately but why dedicated only thread
I agree with @Aerosurfer I like the 456 thread https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/ferrari-456-cars-for-sale.385832/page-68 and I like the 550/575 thread https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/market-prices-575-manual-vs-575-f1-conversion-costs-vs-550.629834/page-64#post-149548108
Terry, I assume you mean this one in the silver sub area (which I’ve enjoyed posts from in the past — and they disc the super America bat auction now). https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/bat-strikes-again.635223/page-201
Well, I don't like this thread. It's a mess...covering too many topics. That's exactly why I started a new one. Conform...or else! ;-)
Dedicated...because BaT seems to be the benchmark...at least for Maranellos...and has a pretty much endless cycle of cars rolling through. Didn't mean to compromise your 456 thread...carry on!
The biggest reason that I created a BaT specific thread is that there are a number of us F-Chatters who show up regularly on the BaT auction comments...and there are some topics that are perhaps better discussed regarding both the cars and their sellers off of BaTs forum. Agree?
The BaT peanut gallery from here (I’m guilty and including myself) often use DM/Conversations if we are being very negative about a car. I’ve been very lazy writing auction synopsis like I had historically on the normal thread partially because I continue to be shocked at where things are at.
Right imagine wanting to sell your 550, you would have to be in an extreme bind to want let go of a car that nicd
What are thoughts on the $305K result for this 4600 mile 550? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-ferrari-550-maranello-37/ Was it worth $14K more than this car? My take is this one was serviced and ready to go, where the above car had deferred work that the "expert" seller was dismissive of. Not confidence inspiring IMHO. Wheels and seats made the difference perhaps? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-ferrari-550-maranello-36/
These cars are gonna be hitting 400-500k+ in no time. They are just the coolest car to drive. To be shifting a v12 Ferrari is just so iconic. I think people are just trying to snap up the color combos that they desire. Before they keep going up. I don’t think the people spending this kind of money are looking to deeply into it. They have millions. They can send it in for maintenance and take care of whatever is needed for the car. The 456 is awesome to drive too in a manual configuration. I’d get a 456 before they hit 200k
You might be right. I got started on my Ferrari V12 odyssey in late 2013. I was poking around on eBay for no particular reason and stumbled across a blue 456 for $35K. Having just recently bought a DB7, then a DB9, my interest in affordable stick shift V12 cars was already stoked! It was my new found car passion. How could one pass up a front engine V12 Ferrari for what seemed like (almost) walking around money? Well, I never was able to close that deal, but it had me on the hunt for another inexpensive example - in blue of course! Next thing you know...
1998 TdF/Beige just showed up. A Japanese market car. Very well presented and complete at first view. My take is that the color alone will drive solid bidding on this one... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1998-ferrari-550-maranello-13/#comments-anchor
This car will do very well. Prob near or pass 200k There’s a similar 550 beauty on CaB. Less miles. Already over 200K
NM. It was canceled for some reason. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/rGjR0g1E/1999-ferrari-550-maranello
Wow. That’s just crazy, butt reflects how truly greedy some people can be. Glad CaB caught it, but definitely a hit to their reputation. A little bit of a brown spot on the historical reputation of that car, and the definite reputation killer for Ron Evans.
Two hours left...and the bid is at $160K. Any guesses? I'll say it at least approaches the $200K mark. Seller has done a great job so far. Not a perfect example, but likely will be a very satisfying ride for the new owner...and with minimal issues...
