41-47. That's all I did, since they were starting to be mostly recent cars. I should have made them bigger, but can post larger individuals if anyone cares enough!

My pick for #1 would be the Eagle-Weslake (#7 on their list).

I can't see how any of the recent F1 cars could make the list; the anteater noses and suspended wings are not pretty by any stretch of the imagination. The last beautiful F1 cars (IMO) were the John Barnard Ferraris of the early '90s.

Can someone pleas explain about the car in pic 33 with 4 front wheels, was this something that was popular in f1 for a while or did only a few teams do it, I only started following F1 in the last few years and know little about pre 90's cars. thanks

    67. Benetton B194

A great car that doesn't deserve to be that far down the list. However, I always liked the B195 a bit better with it's different paint scheme. Not sure why but all the lists I have seen in the past few years ranking the most beautiful cars always omits the B194 and B195.

I know some thought the design looked clumsy on the B195 compared to the B194 and many don't like the front nose cone but to me the Bennetton B195 was a beautiful car along with the Jordan 191.

I think the B195 (or the B194) should be much higher on the list.

The Ferrari 312T is my fave however the JPS lotuses are right up there. The black and gold livery is simply outstanding!

That was the Tyrrell 6-wheeler. The theory behind it was to reduce frontal area, and thus wind resistance. If you look at a closer picture, you will notice little kidney-shaped windows next to the steering wheel on the side of the cowling. This was so the driver could monitor the condition of the front wheels, which had a tendency to erode quicker due to their smaller size. It was never overly successful, and at the time critics claimed that the gains in frontal aerodynamics were lost at the rear when air hit the much larger rear wheels. What really hampered the car's progress was Goodyear's reluctance to continue developing the small-sized tires for only one team. Basically, here's what you get, take it or leave it. In recent years, the 6-wheelers have reappeared in the thoroughbred series, and thanks to development by Avon racing tires, they are actually performing much more competitively. I'm sure Ken Tyrrell is smiling somewhere.

If you're a fan, you should really check out the cars from the 70s and 80s more. There were some beautiful designs and paint schemes, and unlike today's cars, they didn't all look the same.

In full agreement. Although I prefer the paint scheme on the B192/3. :) They're basically the same car, but the B194 was a much more mechanic friendly car. Steve Matchett goes into good detail about some of the subtle differences between the two in A Mechanic's Tale. I always loved the fact that that car was able to use essentially a customer Cosworth V8 and beat the top teams. Personnel wise this is almost the same team that we have at Ferrari at the moment. Glad you brought this car up.

I've always been partial to the F187/F188, last turbo F-car. So clean and simple, and rosso corsa helps too. The last Ferrari F1 car I legitimately thought was pretty was the F310b (97). The beauty of Rory Byrne's cars is in their performance, not the bodywork.

Thanks jack, Ive seen quite a few cars in this thread alone that I had never seen before but find beautiful, partially because they are not all basically the same car in a different color.
