I am thinking of doing a front respray of my 355 but am afraid of getting a color diff. I have a small dent in the hood (can’t be fixed without a respray) and the front bumper is in serious need of some new paint… What would you do, what is your experience of these jobs? Can it be done witout a trace...

BTW: Car is rosso corsa 322 DS and I’m extremely picky about details ;-)

If you take it to a GOOD paintshop Johan they will be able to "blend in" the new paint and you will not be able to tell the difference brother. ;);)

My brother damaged the LH corner of my front bar on my 348 and my friend who is the best spray painter in town repaired it and repainted only that damaged area. The paint is so well done/blended in, you cannot tell there was a repair there at all. ;);)

These are before and after pics. A little hard to tell from the these pics, but the paint is perfect in that damaged area. :):)

Agreed with Pap. A good paint shop should be able to paint any part of a car, and there is no way you can tell when its back on. It will match the whole car, even under orange street lights that show up and change of colour especially in reds..
Main dealers even use contracted paint shops to correct any paint blemishes on brand new cars.

Ok guys, so you convinced me :) Seems like the trick will be to find a paint shop that I can trust. Anyone that knows of a good paint shop in the Gothenburg area…
Just kidding, I will probably have to do some searches on a few Swedish car forums and see what comes up…

If a "paint camera" is used to formulate the color, it will be perfect.

I've had the front of mine repainted several times (bumper, fenders). It's not a big deal... remember, it's just a car!

Do you respray with the bumper on or off?

And anytime you can paint up to a body seam, instead of blending, your prospects of long-term happiness improve.
