Sweet pics everyone! I am so bummed that I missed it! I was in the Okanagan during the event and unfortunately they don't have as nice of cars as they do weather. Oh well next time.

I miss Calgary a lot. I haven't been back there for almost 7 years. Used to live in Cedarbrae.

Sucks that I am going to miss the Stampede AGAIN! Hopefully next year. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Before you go, take out the amount you want to spend in cash. Leave your credit cards and cheque book at home. It's a really fun event, but it feels like your pockets are sucked empty after you've left.

Its like The Fair at the PNE. Its western themed kind of, so its a little different. There are more things related to our western heritage going on outside the Stampede grounds, then inside. I don't know what the transit system is like in Vancouver, but during Stampede Week the Train runs 24 hours so instead of paying to park (they jack the rates up through out the day) may as well take the train to the Stampede grounds if you don't mind it being a bit crowded.

    Spots this past week:
    Red 360 Spider in Westhills
    Orange Gallardo Spider
    Black F430
2 C6 Z06 Corvettes at the same stop light (what are the chances of that? :) )

The "casino" is kind of cool. But when I was younger it was always the beer gardens that caught my attention. Some good root beer and pulled pork. My mother is telling me it is getting a bit pricey though. One of the few places you can actually see a chuckwagon race.

When I was working downtown by Eau Claire the BEST part was basically everything shutdown and all the offices had a grill outside and served western breakfest and beer. :) You could go from one business to another and everyone was having a good time.

The whole city basically shuts down and everyone has a great time. To some native Calgarians, it's just another Stampede, but it's really something everyone should check out once. Chuckwagon races, world class rodeo events, midway/fair/rides, fireworks every night, women, and booze, booze, booze. Your liver will hate you.

Great. The last post I saw from Brim said "Bye" and has since been deleted.

    Brim:

I hope that your intention isn't to leave. Could you possibly just use the ignore function? If actual owners are driven away from this site, it becomes nothing more than a magazine-stat spewing contest. We don't need that. Please continue your insightful and witty posts.

Hi N., this is why I deleted a whole bunch of posts recently. Just trying to keep waters calm. I too have asked Brim to stay a couple of weeks ago and he agreed (For now).

Let's keep this great thread in focus! There has been some great spotting. :)

Nice shot! I love how everyone on the sidewalk just doesn't care. That car, with a new M3 engine in it would be a great sleeper. It looks like a boulevard cruiser, but it'd pack a helluva punch.

Yeah no kidding. They have an M5 motor already! Helllooo. :)

The only one I ever drove and experienced went to Calgary years ago. Silver with red interior 4km's.

From what I've heard, stock Z8's don't feel so quick. But the people I hear these things from may be lying. Spooky.

Maybe if you went from a R1 to a Z8, it may feel slow. There's nothing wrong with how fast the car is. It's not a dragster, which is fine, that's not the point. The car is fast enough to have a ton of fun with. At least, from what I've driven ;)

It is spooky. Like the old saying goes....don't knock it until you try it. Heck, drive a 00-02 M5 which has the same motor. The thing has just over 400 BHP and is an awesome ride.

Like Prancing said "that's not the point". This car was a modern day roadster built to commemorate the very special 507 BMW from the 50's. NOT a drag car ;)

I never said it was a dragster. I'm also familiar with the M5, and that thing moves well. I'm just saying that, in my opinion, the Z8 could use a little bit more oomph. That's all.
