Nice spots Prancing 12. Todd's in Calgary? I don't follow hockey, so is he playing out there? Hes an Ontario boy, actually when I sold cars for Toyota out here my buddy sold his sister Amanda a RAV4. Shes quite a cutie. She was a bartender at one of the local nightclubs at the time - The Queens Hotel. So that was a close to a brush with hockey fame there as I was going to get to Todd. Is he still a fighter? No doubt! Chris
Looks like Bert downgraded because he had a beautiful 360 spider during his playing days in Vancouver.
Probably would've been hard for him to fit the wife (wife?) and kids in the 360 RMK - There were no specifics, but it was mentioned that there are several being considered and the marque isn't currently here. He also mentioned that the current dealer for the Calgary territory isn't properly acknowledging the market here (whatever that means). My own thoughts lean towards Lotus or Lambo, both carried by Weissach in Vancouver. Tony D reportedly tried to get a Maserati dealership to join Bentley as a way to ge this foot in the door with FNA and eventually be the Ferrari dealer here, but we know that didn't work out. Lotus would be a high (relatively) volume franchise that could help offset all of those expensive renos etc. Lamborghini is apparently selling nearly 1/2 their cars to AB and Lambo's been a little disappointed about the effort Weissach put into their "showroom" (bunker) in Vancouver (his words, not mine, which makes me think this is where they're going).
I'm not sure Tony would have any luck getting into FNA's books, either with Maser or even Ferrari, from what I hear Remo is so tight with Ferrari Spa that anyone who even jokes about doing something with Ferrari will have Remo in their face suggesting thats not gonna happen if hes around. Chris
And that's basically how it happened. You've gotta admit though, back in the days of Gran Sports and duoselect QPs, offering to open "just" a Maserati dealership would border on financial suicide and a blatant Ferrari-ass-kissing... there would have been an expectation of reward (cough*F-dealer*cough). And Tony wasn't the only one looking. In the last 5 or so years, Calgary has become a very important (profitable) Ferrari territory. Among others, I believe KDS has mentioned being with a group that looked at taking the franchise after BJ around '00...
nice to see Bert around . . . btw, i thought he had a titanium coupe before. i saw him a few years ago in that coupe with LMC's frame on it. i also saw him in a Bentley GT once too.
One of my friends just got home from a quick ride around from the owner of an R8. Dunno if he said thanks, but if the owner is on this board, he was thrilled.
I've seen her/that car before... Today - Black V8 Vantage Roadster Grey V8 Vantage coupe Red F430 Coupe Black Bentley GT Blue Maserati Gran Sport Spyder Silver Maserati Spyder Blue 996 GT3 Black 997 Turbo coupe
I've heard that ZR may be putting on another show for this month, can anybody tell me if this is true thanks
(According to another source) The koenigsegg CCX was driving 14th street yesterday with cash + cars decals on it
Saw a couple of yellow F-cars today, A Murc, and a 360 spider heading northbound (together) on Deerfoot just past 32nd - loud & fast! Also a Gray GT-R - who either gets out a lot or everybody bought gray ones.
I think he also use to own a Black Carrera GT when he played for the Vancouver Canucks a few years ago...
I've heard a few different people say 360 Spider (on here and in conversation), I've never heard that... I sure hope so though!
i really doubt it, although he has money, im sure he would have kept the lowest profile possible especially with his "Incident" . . . .
This is sad news. Its unfortunate the small grass roots racing isn't getting the crowds. Art has had enough stress in his life, this isn't what he needs. I have met him when I was involved with club events in Calgary before I moved out east and its truly a blessing he is still there. I hope it works out for the 2009 season. And the 2010 season. and the 2011 season.................... Chris
I understand that 2009 will be the last season. There are whispers of another private group looking (much) further east of the city.
Hahaha... no, I mean an hours drive or so east of Calgary. As far as I know, it's a group of local guys... Though, I would prefer a track west, towards the mountains in the foothills. Hmmm, there is that family ranch...
So I was in Calgary this last week.... I sadly didn't spot any Ferraris(sp?) but I was shocked with the sheer number of porches I spotted. 2 Caymans, countless Cayennes, several Boxters, multiple Carreas, and a GT2. On at least two occasions I drove into neighborhoods where they were just parked on the street! What's the point of an exotic if it's not a special treat when you spot one? just my 2cents
