What do you mean 'look like' - they are a bunch of cheats...the wording of the guy responsible on the news tonight virtually confirmed this is not a unique event. Just confirms my belief that all professional sport is corrupt. A shame for the few honest people in sport.
Nup. I’m not copping that. I’m very pissed off, and I have plenty of skin in the game in the sense that I spend my hard earned every year to watch cricket. I’ve travelled to the other side of the world just for a Test Match. Cricket has had its issues, but it’s not even close to such dodgy “sports” as cycling, or virtually any Olympic “sport”. (None of which are real sports in my eyes). What has happened in the last 24 hours has been shocking, disappointing, and I make no excuses for the people responsible. It is, simply, unacceptable. I’d argue it’s a product of the current environment where winning at all costs is all that matters - promoted so well by social media, dopey realty TV shows and pathetic parenting, sadly mainly by my own generation. But, sport in general and certain sports in particular that are based on old fashioned values (cricket, golf, etc) still have a very worthwhile place in society. Perhaps more now than ever. And that’s why it’s so important to call out this abomination and not hide from it.
It’s a contributor for sure, but not the main one. Well, It’s probably the main contributor when it comes to poorly paid teams from elsewhere, but the Aussie team has no similar excuse. Paid extremely well, and granted status above even the PM in this country. No, it’s the “it’s all about me” and “whatever it takes” culture that is so pervasive. Every single TV show on FTA these days is all about screwing someone else over to your own advantage. It is celebrated. Social media is all about “me, me, me”. And the pathetic parents sit their kids in front of it all and cheer them on. Not a hint of honour or morals or good spirit anywhere to be seen. And then, when the cheats / a-holes get caught out, they cry and sook and blame everyone else, everyone comes in and gives them a big hug and has a little cry as well, and then it’s onwards and upwards to the next episode of poor behaviour. No real consequences at all. Well, **** that.
The Aussie team has no excuse, but it's still greed that drives them. Show me one member of the Aussie team who wouldn't go and play for some other team if they got more money and it could be organized.
I like to think the Australian Cricket team as the "pinnacle" of our Sports ambassadors would be better than this. There will be and should be a very heavy fallout regarding this and for those involved.
I would like to think that would not be correct Karen. However, the events of the past 24 hours, give some reason for Australians to give some creedence to the sentiments you expressed. Just not a lot I hope. Very dark day in our sporting history. On a worse level than the "underarm bowling" incident which was poor sportsmanship. This is plain cheating.
I’m off work sick. Poor me. But lucky for everyone else! I think this is much worse than underarm-gate. That was outside the spirit of the game but not the laws. This was blatant and intentional cheating. Interesting that the SAF players hatched a plan with the TV network to catch us out as they felt it had been going on for a while.
Oh Ok.....Thought you might have been into the scotch....... Hope you feel better.... Trevor C who bowled the underarm used to be the coach at my sons school in North Paramatta... Total DH......It just shows me their heart is not in what they do......Its all about the money.....How could you feel good winning a game when you have cheated.......They need leaders who have a passion for the game and are proper enthusiasts.....Unfortunately the new generation always thinks there is an easy way to get what they want when hard work does not achieve it...........
I am. I’m sick, not insane. Scotch is the finest medicine ever invented. Just a head cold, but as you know it’s a bad idea to fly with one. On the plus side, it has enabled me to watch a very interesting weekend of sport.
Anyone involved in this needs to be given a lifetime ban from the game. I don't think anyone would care if it decimates the team we need to get our respect back and that will take a long, long time. John
Yes, clean out the administration too, it’s an old boys club just like rugby league Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I played with and against some current and former test players in the late 70's, early 80's. A lot of these guy had passed on WSC, had normal jobs (bank johnnies a lot of them). They played for the love of the game - money has a lot to answer for..
And to think this next generation is going to run the world ........They think Hardwork is a bloke from Mexico.......
the theory might get tested sooner rather than later... IF the leaders are tossed out of the Aus team (as they should be) what's the bet they pop up playing for some other team AGAINST us.
