    Hey everyone
You guys are just amazing ! What wealth of knowledge ! Thank you !
    I’m only a recent 348 TS owner . Pics attached . It’s a 1992 car.
    I’ve searched the forums .
I need advise from your experience on these gadgets and electronics :
    1. I need reverse parking camera and a screen. I need to preserve OEM look and can’t figure out where to mount a screen . I have left side eye astigmatism and need best and widest view angle. Any suggestions if you’ve installed a setup ? Would the wireless be better .
    2. I need the best possible audio system upgrade . Is it possible to create beautiful sonics from just upgrading speakers in the door panels with a hidden away amplifier but not necessarily adding subwoofers or custom boxes . In essence I’m looking for the best minimalist setup which can be pre set to targa and roof closed acoustics. I have a 488 Spyder and am very satisfied with its optional JBL setup. Can that quality sound be reproduced in a 348 ?
    3. What do you guys do for your phone mounts as I’m visually dependant on my Waze navigations ( esp.the police radar warnings ! ) . I have a rather bulky Samsung fold 3 .
    Best from Down Under !

I'd start with the simple stuff. your front wheels are on backward.

    1. no idea on cameras. I know solutions exist, but nothing about them
    2. I've done several car stereos, but took all of mine out of the 348 as you can't really hear it anyway.
    3. I'd make a mount to put it where the stereo is.

First question on the decision tree: are you willing to ruin your factory interior?

Everything else is dependent on this.

..thanks. Absolutely not . That’s the key ! I would just want to get the best upgrade to existing in door speakers . I love be the retro simplicity of the leather cover that hides the stereo . I’d keep it 1 DIN . This one looked very OEM to me …

As head unit slot is hidden most of the time, why not to install a sliding 1 DIN 7" display unit there and use it only when parking?

    Something like this?

Anyway, while driving stereos are borderline useless due to engine noise and slot cover can be held closed.

I don’t see how a flip up will work well with the recessed head unit behind the leather cover. Has this been done?

Anyway, I’d forget the sound system, find a good cell phone mount that works for you, and buy a rear view camera that connects wirelessly to your phone. Alternatively, you could get an aftermarket rear view mirror that connects to a camera.

Either solution is going to be a little janky, but it’ll work.

You are correct, retro.phit. The display should slide out pretty far and it should flip down in order to fit. It seems that typical sliding display head units flip display upwards.

I went gadget shopping to two top installers today.
The rear view mirror in the 348 sits in the glass and he told en that it’s not going to be a clean rear view mirror replacement . I will see a cable running up plus it wouldn’t look nice esp. if I’m keen on a clean OEM look.
    2. For some reason both dealers denied me the option of wireless reverse setup. Claimed they are not reliable and they prefer hardwired setup.
    3. They did suggest that a decent 3 way speaker setup possible by upgrading the in door speakers to a mid and a sub while replacing the tweeters next to the front vents . They showed me some Sony ES setups and Focal audio setups with optional amps.
Still can’t find a screen for reverse park …grrr
