I’ve heard the Brigitte Bardot reference before, I think the initials are just a lucky coincidence.

Nothing to do with the BB, but back in 2014 I had the chance to visit the Righini Collection where I saw the AAC 815 (second feature car of this article), the guide told us a story (perhaps a legend) that an extremely rich American collector offered a blank cheque to purchase this car and Righini turned down the offer. Here is a picture of the car taken during the visit.

After a French actress? Really? When the Italians had several, probably more beautiful, successful and famous of their own? I highly doubt it. Sounds more like a highly developed fantasy of a young writer to me.

According to Ing. Mauro Forghieri, BB stands for Berlinetta Bialbero (Dual Camshafts), not Berlinetta Boxer, which was made up incorrectly by journalists.

I believe that some cars in the Righini collection have been declared Italian National Treasures and cannot leave Italy. Sophia Loren is another National Treasure.

sat across the aisle from Sophia Loren on a flight from Rome to London in 1996, when she must have been about 61, and she was stunning.

Her son, Edoardo went to USC. I know someone who was there on graduation day and when she arrived at the ceremony the entire area went quiet. She has an enormous presence.

    i believe it.
we were out on the runway - ie the plane had left the terminal, we stopped, and everybody wondered what the hell was going on, they opened the door and pulled some stairs over, and then a limo drove to the plane and she got on. nobody said a word, and i just stared.
unlike me, i did not say hello or engage her in any conversation - which is my normal MO with celebs.
but she is like italian royalty.

I have sat in that car. Righini was a gentleman the two times he toured us through his incredible collection. So many unique vehicles from the beginning of the horseless carriage to the significant historic examples. Very amazing place to visit. Thank you for sharing the picture.
