Definitely. Dead Guy was one of the first "specialty" beers I tried in college when I began drinkin' "outside the box".
Arrogant Bastard, Black and Tans (before I liked Guiness and Bass by themselves), Warsteiner, some New Beligums, and La Fin du Mond. Those are what I remember off the top of my head.
Lol. The leaping frog (or flying frog or something) black & tan is next on my list, as is arrogant bastard. Warsteiner is nice
There's a local mico-brewery in Louisiana called Abita Brewery. They put out some good ones. Some beers are produced year round, others are seasonal. If you can get your hands on some you should try it. "Abita Amber, Turbo dog, purple haze, just to name a few.
I've heard very good things about purple haze and they definately have it at my local beer place so i'll see if they have any more
Can anyone recommend a raspberry wheat beer? I was partial to Naked Aspen but they're gone. Thinking of trying Harpoon's UFO Raspberry Hefeweizen if I can find it locally. edit: Hmm, reviews of the UFO not that great...
Thats the one i was going to recommend. I liked it but i prefer non-flavored beer. Check out purple haze too. Where are you located?
Before, Katrina hit I had made an extra side by side refrig/freezer a feg cooler w/a beer tap. I usually kept purple haze or one of Abita Brewery's seasonal beers on tap. I not a big draft fan for domestics, but these beers are good on tap. It is a must to keep the lines clean to avoid nasty after taste.
Cool. Thanks. They seem to have some of their brews at the local Wegmans. I'll go check it out over the weekend
I think it because you get all the goodness of the beer. there's no filter on the keg so you get all the little pieces of rasberry that made it through the filtration process at the plant. I agree that is one beer that is better on tap.
I think almost all beers are better on tap than bottled or canned. Don't laugh at me, but last I was in Gainesville I hit a college dive and had a couple PBR's on draft. It's hell in a can but man it's good on tap.
Sooo Wegmans has been hiding a secret from me..... they have quite a selection of beers. I'm drinking a purple haze right now and really diggin' it. Very smooth and nice and the raspberry isn't overpowering (it is in Harpoons weizen). Turbo dog and amber opinions soon
I was going to get a 6 pack of that yesterday too but figured 3 6packs were enough considering i still have at least 3 bottles left from each of the other 6 packs in my fridge
HOLY ****. I friend of mine just told me about this place: http://www.beeryard.com/ Goddam! Look at all the beer it has!!! Its only 40 mins from me AND right near the Ferrari dealer. Win Win
Ended up getting a $25 amazon certificate recently and treated myself to this: http://www.amazon.com/Beer-Journal-Chris-Wright/dp/1430312467/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234899364&sr=8-1 Should be helpful in remembering some of the rarer beers i'll be trying
These past 2 weeks have been heaven. I've had Pliny the Elder, Hopslam (drinking now), Nugget Nectar (have a case in my fridge) and so much more. Mostly because of luck. I'll write a story when i have some time
