Its good. One of my favourite hefeweizens. Don't bother trying the raspberry version, its not that good. Purple Haze is better if you want a fruit beer

I tried one of the UFO Hefe's last night and I was let down. I wonder if I got a bad batch because it tasted a little off (although I never had it before).

You must have. Try a differnet batch. Its quite good

I went to Monks last night and had a St. Bernardus Wit golden ale which was very tasty (comparable to Delerium Tremons IMO) and then a beer who's name escapes me but its a hoppy belgian beer that is a mix between a double IPA and a golden ale. It was ok. And then i had the daddy of the night, a Russian River Salvation which was amazing. Its comparable to a flemish sour ale and i liked it, which surprised me because i don't like darker beers. I'm glad i found a new type of beer i can have :)

Monks has special kegs on and i'll be going back in a few days when the Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger kegs get tapped:

Having a Weihenstephaner Kristall Weissbier right now. Hefe is nearly as good. Anybody try them and find a better Weissen Bier?

Heard earlier about someone liking black and tans using Bass Ale. Abomination. Should be two Irish beers, one should be Harp and we know what the other one is.

FINALLY! Found Torpedo yesterday. Picked up 2 6ers. Not as good as I was anticipating, but I can see myself really growing to like it the more I drink.

I'm not a huge IPA fan. I'm sure by the time I finish all 12 I'll like it a lot.

Went to monks on wendesday. Had Russian River Damnation. Was ok but i prefer Delirium. I've been waiting all week for my local beer place to get Hoptimus Prime in and they finally did today......1 case of 22oz bottles. Thats it. Thank god i was the first to ask. They had to go get the case and open it for me so i snagged 3.

I've also decided that my next "beer journey" is belgian beers. I'm getting tired (bored?) of double IPAs and i don't want that so i'm gonna take a DIPA hiatus to try some other styles :D

    Anyone have any beer news?

Yeah Chris I have news. Picked up a sixie of Sam Adams Blackberry Witbier. Was hopeful it would be a nice beer to accompany my BBQ last weekend. It was just OK.

I was up in the mountains a couple months ago, somebody left a few PBR's in the fridge. Since beer is hard to find in a dry county and it was late late when we got there, I popped them. Damn good! I didn't know it came in bottles.

Heading out to Total Wine maybe this weekend to pick up some new stuff. Haven't had Pliny in awhile, I might snag some of that if it can be found. Picked up a bottle of Booker's bourbon a couple weeks ago. Will try it soon....

I've had mixed results with fruit beers. The only good one i've had is Purple Haze which was recommended by a member here (in this thread i believe?). I've had the Harpoon raspberry UFO hefe as well as some other random blueberry beers and all of them are just ok. I need to pick up a sixer of abitas new summer beer. Its strawberry....

I've been calling Monks every few days to find out when they are going to tap the kegs of Pliny the younger and elder that they have. They hate me, lol

PBR is my "session" beer of choice now :D

    That's cool!

Was at Sam's yesterday and ended up leaving with a Shiner "Family Reunion" pack....24 beers for $22. Not too bad. I've only had the Kosmos Reserve (which is only available in the family pack). I'll have to drink all 4 to form an opinion, but it wasn't bad but also seemed to lack flavor.

Has anyone tried Simpler Times Premium Lager?

Trader Joe's seems to be the exclusive seller of this. They carry three varieties, a lager, premium lager(bottles) and a pils. Also another brand by the same brewer I forget the name of with a maple leaf on the can, awful stuff. Haven't had the Pils, the regular lager in the cans is only so-so but I have become enamored enough of the premium lager to buy it in case quanities.
It is brewed by Canadian Minhas at the former Jos. Huber brewery in Monroe ,Wi.(think Augsburger)
I toured the Huber brewery just days after the sale to Minhas perhaps two years ago, the atmosphere was dismal. There were sure their destiny was to brew $3 six pack drek, perhaps the maple leaf stuff, under the rule of "some young Canadian".
Simpler Times premium lager is really good, they should be proud of it.

Ross, i'll have to check that out

Here are my last 2 beer hauls

    - Racer 5 (fresh, 09 bottling date)
