"Can I have some candy for my cousin?" "Where's your cousin" "At home" "Is she paralyzed?" "No" "Then why isn't she here?" "Can I just have some more?"
Got my light off and staying in the back of the house, trying to keep the dogs calm. For some reason we get hordes of kids (mostly teens) even though there's almost none in the neighborhood itself.
The city of Westover Hills has a police car parked at the gates entrance, great idea to keep some of the riff-raff out. That's the first time I've ever seen that before.
what i do is about a week before halloween i start stocking up on sugar packets from the coffee shop. by halloween i've got hundreds of them. i put them in a big bowl and when the kids show up i just let them help themselves.
This is so simple. Get a big empty bowl. Get a piece of paper. Write a note saying "FREE CANDY. HELP YOURSELF" Place empty bowl and note outside next to front door. Problem solved. I do it every year. Works great. RMX
I like playing a game every year. I wait for my little brother to come hom. Give him a day or two, then go searching for his stash of candy. Then presume to eat it.
Oh yeah ? I had a bunch of kids that rang the bell and didn't even say 'trick r treat', they just stood there holding their bags open....... ........ I remember the old days, going with mom to find JUST the right Batman or Superman outfit-in-a-box-complete-with-stifiling-hot-plastic-mask-held-on-with-elastic-string, those days are gone, along with decent racing....... LOL
This is the first Haloween I've been home for in a while. I bought four bags of candy and NOT ONE kid showed up. Now I'll have to pack it into work (or actually jury duty tomorrow) to get rid of it.
we wnt through 28 bags of candy this year, only one drive in. I don't mind those, or apt. dwellers. At my apartments, no one ever gives out candy, prudes. So every year we have the family gather at mom's house to take the nieces and nephews out. Only about 12 kids not in costumes. Great turnout. My nephew(race car driver), nieces(princess, devil child, betty boop), and God Kids(frog, princess, and ninja) looked cute running up to the doors, taking turns ringing the bells, then yelling out the "Trick or Treat!"
We had no trick or treaters this year. Normally we have at least the little kids all dressed up going around with their mums and dads. Got to give them some sweets. But this year absolutely nothing. Oh well, more for me!
We used to have a problem with large groups of kids who would recycle the 1st guy through the line twice. In other words, 8 T or T'ers show up at the door. The first guy gets his loot, then wanders to the back of the line and hits us twice. Big group, all dressed similarly, who'd know? Mrs. dm_n_stuff sniffed this one out. Now we take a head count as they show up. 8 kids at the door, 8 bags. No double dipping at the dm_n_stuff house!!! I'm sure next year they'll simply hit the house twice as a group, coming and going through the neighborhood, and try to get twice as much stuff that way. DM
Halloween used to be my favorite "holiday" but this year was very disappointing. Only got to scare a handful of kids.
Whats wrong with opening the door and giving the kids a treat? saying that they cant get through my drive gates
i paid $6 for a 90 count smarties candy and a big bowl. put it out on the front porch with a sign that said "happy halloween." At the end of the night it was still half full!
I'm sorry, that was inapropriate. Were you referring to the lack of AIDS or hepatitis in the needles? Or just that razor blades work much better? I'm sick, I know.
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeez My wife and I both dressed up as cowboys. I had chaps, hat, vest, bandana, twin pistols, boots.... she had much the same and a fake mustache as well. Whenever we saw friends as we walked through the neighborhood we would kiss... we were "Brokeback Mountain" you see! Both our kids were power rangers. In our subdivision there are about 150 homes and there must have been 400+ kids going nuts all over the place. It was pandemonium! Hay rides with big trailers going on, hundreds of kids walking trick or treat door to door, dozens of houses done up with all sorts of extravagant decorations including outdoor music systems, strobe lights etc. It was a HUGE PARTY! My neighbor dragged around a big wagon full of ice and beer for adult trick or treating. My In-laws manned the house while we walked all over the neighborhood. They gave out about $150 in all sorts of candy. Both my kids brought in a huge haul... they will still be eating it come spring! Halloween is tons of fun. I cannot imagine hating it or not participating. One older guy who lives in the neighborhood did his house up all scary with spooky music and he dressed up like a zombie. Scared the crap out of lots of the little ones. My 3 year old was petrified.... until her friend came back with a HUGE load of candy. Terry
All the kids in my neighborhood were very polite. I think all of them said thank you. Many of them complimented us on our house, candy and pumpkins. Normally we get kids that come from other neighborhoods. Although last night it seemed to be mostly be local kids. I don't really have a problem with it. If the kids think they can get better candy where I live versus where they live and they are correct, I say good for them. If I lived in a gated community I would most likely be upset but I don't.
