at 5300 lbs, the bentley gt performance wa sigificanly effected dispite having 550 hp!!! 0-60 in 4.9,14.4 quarter, and sluggish handling....is this a suprise? you can not beat the laws of physics...i know it is lux, gt car, but i hate the sensation of carry a big fat car around corners...not fun at all!!! its the same problem big fat suvs have ... i hate driving them and also the same issue i had with my 98 sl500..it cornered like crap... just too heavy...mb still makes the new sl and cl too heavy...what are putting in these cars? lead weights?..what happed to high tech, light weight alloys that are stronger and lighter? the probable answer is that it is cheap to add a monster big block engine or a supercharger than to make a new chassis with light weight materials

I drove the demo up at EuroMotorcars since I have a deposit down on the convert that will be coming next. Although it is heavy it was fun to drive. It isn't a race car so the weight doesn't bother me a bit. When was the last time you threw you lux car sideways in a turn? You won't see one on every street and compared to the competition it could be considered a "bargain". My only issue is that the back seats aren't exactly adult sized as advertised but they can be used in a pinch.

I've seen a couple of them on the road (yes, we have them here in China). I've been following the car since the first announcement of it. Now that I've seen it, I'm not impressed by the lines. It looks bloated. The proportions just seem goofy.

I'm guessing them to depreciate pretty quick once the hype is over.

I saw the Bentley GT sitting next to a Vanquish at Indy during F1. The Vanquish was much better looking fromt the outside, but the Bentley had a much better looking interior. That is really porky at 5300lbs. The types of guys that are buying these Bentleys are the SL55 guys. They probably could care less about the extra weight. Most of them probably have lighter, faster cars in their stable anyway. Beautiful car though. I think that's mostly what it's meant for anyway. Looking good as you pull up to the country club. I dont think the Vanquish is worth 100K more than the Gt though.

    Hey Wayne:

Are there any tax advantages to buying a car like this? Does the $100,000 first year right off apply, or does it only apply to 6,000 pound vehicles?

Just curious, because I do like this car. It's all Audi underneath and reliable as heck. For the difference in price between this and the S8 (that doesn't seen to be coming any time soon) it's a quality car.

I agree -- too bloated looking and way overweight. fwiw, I witnessed somebody who had ordered one cancel his order after seeing and driving one.

    At least it sounds good.

I had #2 order for one, after seeing it last year at a private intro cancelled the order promptly. It just did not feel like a proper Bentley, both inside and out.(plastic grill ??)
It was supposed to be for my wife but she already has an SUV,so I ordered a DB9 Volante for her instead.(March delivery)

I love it. You order cars for your wife that just happen to be the ones you like. That's great. I do the same. Honey this Lamborghini looks great on you. I guess it keeps them involved. It's much easier than saying, honey I want to buy this Lamborghini for myself.
