there are no factory cars in ELMS but there is one competizioniGT pilot engaged in ELMS, guess the team!
the two only factory cars are the 488 GTE in WEC #51 and #71. managed by AF Corse Ferrari and Michelotto as a private person i can buy or rent any ferrari gt race car and ask AF Corse to support it. i for myself own a 458 GTE, i have the 51 as well on it and AF Corse supports me on the track but i'm not factory supported.... unfortunately )
interesting. I always thought that Michelotto and Ferrari Factory supported Risi and (since 2015 or so) Scuderia Corsa as well. Mattioli has (like G Risi) a very close relationship with F Spa. Next time at LM I will ask them
you come to Spa for the 24h Tom? I race in the support race there with my GTE. Some others should join as well. last time probably the 458 GTE racing there!
yes for sure they get support but at the end, it depends on your agreement and level of support. but the real factory works car are the two WEC 488 GTE.
Martin Lanting will race in the support race (GT Sports Club) as well (458GT2) and will join a race with the car at the Racing Days at TT Assen track early august.
yes he's my teammate we just did the 25hours of Spa (FunCup) and the 24hours of Le Castellet (BMW) together. with Martin, myself and Antony Pons we will be 3 458 GTE in the GT Sports Club race. correct, the ELMS will be in Spa as well later this year, I'm so busy with my own race schedule I have already lost the focus on other series...
...but engineers did not know if mr JMW opt for the 488GTE or an other manufacturer. Price GTE/GT2 a lot more than the 520K for a 488GT3 BTW Ferrari is the most expensive GT3 car and prices for spares are sky high.
TomGT in another thread you were asking why so few Ferraris. I think you've answered your own question. CW
The final decision is for sure not done yet but I heard that ACO consider to still balance NA and Turbo Engines and as a result we might see some 458 GTE in AM Class at Le Mans 2017. The Car is still competitive. Lets see, maybe Jim take the old Aston out of the stable regarding costs, the 488GTE will (probably) be a little bit cheaper to run than the 458 GTE (Status today) but the 488 GT3 is almost at the same level as the Car is very similar. That means about 20% higher running costs compared to the 458 GT3. Its not Ferraris aim to sell as many cars as possible, everybody who knows C.M.s approach knows only perfection counts, for sure the price level is at another level. the price for the 488 GT3 is 550K excl options and tax and the 488GTE is 695 excl options/tax. so fully spec 488 GTE around 800K. I dont think the other GTE manufacturer are cheaper. Ferrari has sold about 35 488GT3 till today (60 Audi/50 Merc/Lamb40 and POR 20), and sold, not delivered... ). We will see much more 488GT3 in 2017 as many teams kept their 458 for 2016 as delivery was to late for the 2016 Season and nobody moves to a brand new model in the middle of a race season. as soon as drivers and teams get familiar with the car and BoP not penalised the turbo engines we will see the huge potential of the 488GT3.
