Aventinus. =)
Truth be told!!! Any brew out of Oregon is better than any import. Whenever I hit the road I always consult my friends at PubCrawler.com and they kept me happy in the Northwest. Check them out, you can't go wrong http://www.pubcrawler.com My Favorite http://www.fullsailbrewing.com
Miller lite= the only beer I won't drink (well unless it's the only choice). There is just something that tastes artificial to me. Like after they get done watering it down they put some chemicals in it to bring the fizz back. Just my opinion. You know light beer is watered down. They discovered no matter how long you brew beer it doesn't get any more calories in it. So they brew very strong beer and water it down, back to the acceptable alcohol level. At least this is what I have read.
I have tryed alot, but i just don't drink that much. Maybe 1 beer a day or 2 sometime... I know some people who drink like crazy amounts of bear each day like 4,5 bottles and don't get even drunk from it.
I thoughts that's what you meant. I use to have 1-2 beers a night for a while. I've since put a stop to that for the most part. I thought that was too much as it was. Now when I know a big party is going to be coming up, I start drinking 2-3 per night to get the tolerance up.
4 or 5 beers is not what I would consider a "crazy amount". Drinking everyday, that is another issue. But to say 4 or 5 beers is a crazy amount and to sound shocked that people can drink 4 or 5 beers and not get drunk is just naive. I guess if you are a 72lb midget, than that might seem like a lot. Oh well I guess it is all relative. But when you are in a thread title "best beer" the asumption is that you actually enjoy drinking beer, and anyone I know who enjoys to drink beer would not consider 4 beers a lot.
I just had a "Hairy Eyeballs", man was that good! Chimay or Duvel for me. Nostradamus is tasty as well.
Ahhhhh, my dear gents, there is only one beer that has pretty much been recognized by the hardcore beer aficianado community as the absolute best of the best: Westvleteren 12 Abt. One 12 oz. bottle costs $11.00 and it will pretty much change your life. I actually found it at a Binny's in Orland Park in March 2003 and treated myself to 3 bottles (their whole stock!) of it for my birthday. The flavor can't really be described, it's almost like a majestic alchemy dancing around your mouth. Also it's @ 22 proof, but there is NO alcohol taste. The whole experience is just magical from the indescribably wonderful flavor to the heavenly ethereal buzz that follows. There is absolutely no comparison to any other beer, strike that, any other fluid on Earth. Period. Look at a site like Ratebeer.com or Beeradvocate.com and you'll see. It's the #1 rated on EVERY list and that hasn't changed in years. If you ever see it anywhere, buy it. Buy ALL that the store has and ask when they're getting more. You'll thank me later! Cheers, Nick
Bought a sampler 12 pack of JW Dundees last night. 2 each of Honey Brown, IPA, Amber Lager, Porter, Pale Ale, Pale Bock. Never did like their Honey Brown, but thought I'd try the sampler out any way. Just opened one of the IPA's... as Crocodile Dundee said "you could live on it, but it tastes like sh**." Really watered down taste and no head. No wonder it was $12.99/12 !!!
Im intrigued by this thread... So I'll offer up my opinion, mind you its only that. When I was in the US last year I got to taste alot of brews, and most all came up short. Though all were palatable I was disapointed. Myself I love a Carlsberg, followed closely by Grolsch. These European beers are the real deal.
hair of the dog, rouge brewery's dead guy ale, black butte porter from dechuttes brewery, there are many more, but ull have to be on the west coast to get most of them. if you have a chance go to mcminemins and get terminator stout on nitro.
If I remember correctly, its called a "Blue Velvet," They probably mixed in a little port also. Quite tasty if I might add.
Had some a couple years ago. It was pretty nasty, although I will say that I've heard different bottles vary drastically in taste.
Here in Nashville, TN a company called Yazoo brews Dos Perros, which I find to my liking. But that said, I've had about 10 beers in my whole life. So my palate's about as legit as a blind seeing eye dog.
not the best i've had, but a pretty good one is viking. i think it's a honey beer of some sort. harrar (sp?) from ethiopia is similar. i recently had a boont ESB, which was pretty good.
