    WOW !!

This was, without question, THE Ferrari event in North Carolina so far in 2005. Huge thanks to our sponsors:

    Perry Wealth Management
    Sport Auto
    Foreign Cars Italia
    Belk's
    Griot's Garage
    Ricambi America
    Bermuda Run Country Club
    Foothills Brewing Company

In addition to a boatload of Ferrari's, we had an outstanding turnout of BMW's, Audi's, Porsche's, Mercedes, MG's, Vettes, and more. Really, our contingent of German cars (led by L8BRAKER) is equally impressive.

Be sure to check out the Sunday edition of the Winston Salem Journal (www.journalnow.com) for the feature article and pictures.

Without further ado, here are the unedited pictures:

Thoroughly enjoyed today...all went smoothly, and only a little bit of rain. Glad to meet some new people and catch up with everybody.

Looking forward to USGP, for those of you that are attending.

    Some teasers/spoilers/major suprises include:

    1. Kevin cleaning someone *ELSE'S* car. (not a surprise, he's a nice guy)

    2. Daniel cleaning his *OWN* car. (do I even need to comment?) AND as a bonus feature of this shot, he answers the "boxers or briefs?" question everyone has been wanting to know!!!!

    3. David Fender taking pictures of his own car. (jury's out on this one, David, I don't know you well enough to judge your narcissistic habits :p)

    4. Ferraris on two wheels?

    5. JDavid cleaning his car (the only true surprise of them all!)

    6. Trey is anti-paparazzi.

Awesome event, had a blast meeting a bunch of you!

See how clever I am? "Boxers" rule. Especially a nice BBi.

Actually... we have been thoroughly misquoted and outed by the Winston Salem Journal. Congratulations to David Scott who seems to have personally won the 1986 Ferrari Challenge!!

    Revving for a Rally
Ferrari drivers and their pricey cars gather for a show and road trip

    BERMUDA RUN

Given a choice between a date and a Ferrari, Zach Isenhour says he would pick the Ferrari.

"You can pick the woman up with the Ferrari," Isenhour said.

Yesterday, Isenhour and his buddy Scott Sexton - both recent graduates of Davie High School - were among onlookers taking a gander at 20 Ferraris from North Carolina and South Carolina parked behind the clubhouse at Bermuda Run Country Club.

The Ferraris were gathered for the second annual Bermuda Run rally sponsored by the N.C. Chapter of the Ferrari Club of America. After lunch, participants planned to follow a 100-mile route that would take them to Winston-Salem via Pilot Mountain.

Onlooker Scott Colter, who owns a toy Ferrari and drives a Ford pickup, said he thinks the Ferrari is an impressive automobile, but finds it hard to imagine owning one a real one.

"I don't think I could justify buying a car more expensive than my house," Colter said.

A Ferrari could certainly cost as much as a house. The most valuable car at the rally was probably worth about $225,000, said Daniel Pass, the Winston-Salem resident and member of Bermuda Run who organized the rally. But a Ferrari can be had for considerably less. The most inexpensive one at the rally was worth about $30,000, he said.

Part of the allure of a Ferrari is its relative rarity. Ferrari, which is based in Modena, Italy, might make 2,000 cars a year. People who want a particular model may have their name on a list for several years before they can buy it.

"If you collect cars, you have to have a Ferrari in your collection," said Andy Cortessis of Winston-Salem. "That's the holy grail. It's not the fastest car I've got but it's the smoothest-driving car I've got."

Cortessis, 49, has been collecting performance cars since he was 19. He showed up - with his buddy Fred Lewis in the passenger seat - in a 1988 red Testarossa. A Ferrari is not the kind of car you drive to the mall and leave unattended in the parking lot. Cortessis has a pickup that he drives every day.

Nor is a Ferrari the easiest car to get in and out of. One woman said that she knew of a young man whose father had given him permission to drive the Ferrari to his prom. When he told his date, the young lady said there was no way she was going to try to get in and out of a Ferrari in her prom dress.

Depending on the model, a Ferrari's 12-cylinder engine might take the car up to 180 mph. But no one queried admitted to having gone more than 140 mph or so - and that was only on a track. Because of the way the car handles and sounds, they said, the experience is plenty satisfying at lower speeds.

Sam and Lisa Bibawi of Winston-Salem won "Best Modern in Show" with their 2004-model 360 Spider, which they bought last year.

Sam Bibawi said that before he owned a Ferrari he thought that a group of Ferrari owners might be a bit snobbish. But he has found them to be thoroughly enjoyable.

"They are all very nice," he said.

So far, he has done all the driving. He keeps offering his wife a chance to get behind the wheel, but she has turned down all his offers.

"I just enjoy riding," she said.

What a day! It sure was fun, but did any ever find a certain road? hahahaha

Good to meet some of you, and see the CAFE gang again. So when's the next big event???? hahaha Anyone wanna drive more today? Call me LOCO, but driving is so fun.

I think I get the award for best photo of the day. This if from the ride home, taken on a camera phone of RedlineG60 (Andy). Enjoy and feel free to use the picture at will to motivate Andy to fix his car or get a job! *8^) I guess riding in the Boxster and 355 wore him out!

Look guys, I know I am a true Walter Mitty, but I have not crossed the line of reality and fantasy, at least not yet anyway. I clearly told them that Jim Kenton won the 1996 348 Series Challenge!! I hope they will correct that.
