Doubtless many of you who reside in the Atlanta area have heard of a very large car gathering that occurs monthly (except in winter months) at the Riverstone Plaza shopping center in Canton, GA.

I'd heard of it and was a bit intrigued, but the show usually takes place in the late afternoon of the third Saturday of the month--precisely when we're usually at Giovanni's. But as the Giovanni's event was postponed a week in October, I decided to take advantage and see what all the hubbub was about. So I left the air & car show in Rome a bit early and headed east on GA-20.

I think the usual estimate I had heard--400 to 500 cars--was rather exaggerated, but there easily were 200 to 250, still a large turnout. And aside from the usual American muscle, there were quite a few vehicles not often seen elsewhere. This first group includes some Corvairs, a Dodge Lancer, an AMX and a Ford Model T.

I should point out that this "cruise-in" is put on by the Po Boys Car Club of Acworth. A modest $2 donation is asked to help defray expenses, and there are lots of door prizes. Plenty of nearby restaurants provide options for dining afterwards.

This group includes a couple of Studebakers, some Cobras, a vintage Lincoln Continental and a real rarity--a Sears motorcycle, built for them by Puch in Austria and sold through the catalog!

I asked someone if they ever got any other Italian cars there, and he said there had been a Lamborghini (model unknown) earlier that day, but the owner had gotten nervous about the density of cars and people and had left soon after. I happened to find an area to park in that was not too congested and had no problem. As usual, the 328 got its share of attention.

This last group includes a couple of Mustangs with humongous blowers and a Shelby Series 1.
