Found it in early May, had Carobu Engineering in Costa Mesa do the PPI, then had them modify the suspension with adjustable Konis. Exotic Car picked it up yesterday, ten more days until I believe this car is mine.

This may be the longest 10 days I have ever experienced.

Hey TexasMike, interior is black. Its the standard interior with the grey cloth stripes in the seats, matching headliner, and door inserts. Not my ideal. The car is missing some details to make it concours, like the original Pioneer. Also, some of the factory black parts on the rear deck are red. For that reason, I may park the original seats in storage, and replace them with something different, and not worry about points.

When the budget allows, I plan to have Carobu install the Brembo brake package, which requires larger wheels, which I think will be either 18" or 20" Kinesis. Carobu lowered the car the proper way almost 1 1/2". The car is a strong runner with only 18,000 miles, has no body work but two small chips in the paint. Exactly what I was looking for so I don't have to fear driving it on our local battlefield called I-95. After 2-3 years I will have it repainted.

Luckily I trim my finger nails short, otherwise the would be gone over the next 10 days.

Very cool...It would be a dream come true for me. So, it's your fist Ferrari? What a way to start off. I love classic cars but, I'm a technology nut. I like the latest and greatest so, for the money I don't know if I would buy a Boxer or a 355. If I could, I would buy both.
Have fun with it and drive it like it's supposed to by driven.

I'd go for the classic most every time. Dude, 18,000 miles!!! The car is barely broken in. Kind of like my 328 w/ 20,000. To selectively pluck these cars from a time warp is a challenge. Anyone (w/ $) can have a new car, any day, any where. But then I collect 1800 microscopes for a hobby.

Very nice. How's that going to work for the additional stuff Carobu will do? Ship it back to CA again and then have it sent back to FL???

Very nice! But why does everyone want to "pimp your ride" with too-big wheels and tires? Makes it look like a conestoga wagon! Those wheels now on the car are classic Ferrari IMHO.

SrfCity: Carobu will send the brakes out to my local Ferrari expert, Tim Stanford. May take a couple of e-mails, or phone calls to insure proper installation.

FourCam: Yes the factory wheels are nice, but the larger Brembos require larger wheels, so I looked for a long time for wheels that allowed the brakes to show through, and would also fill in the rather large wheel wells on the Boxer. Likely 18", but there is an F40 on the Kinesis web site with 20" wheels that look great.

    Hi Ron,
    Congrats on the new car.
    Excellent choice.

One question: Why the bigger brakes?
Did you find the stock ones lacking or are you going to track the car?

    Congrats, great choice.

Can you give me some idea of the suspension upgrade, what it does.

Murph: The bigger brakes just look so good! The closest comparison I can give you is having a menage a trois with Halle Berry and Terri Hatcher. I don't drive fast on public streets, I won't be doing track time, its all aesthetics.

Alan: When I spoke to the Kinesei rep, he gave me instructions for scrolling ontheir web site, led me to the 20" wheels, mounted on an F40. Actually, they look like 20" in the photo.

Boxerman: I understand the Konis for the Boxer are no longer available, so Koni rebuilds them. For an extra $$, they make them fully adjustable for ride height. You have to change the springs accordingly to give the ride you want. Carobu got my springs from Eibach. Everything costs about $3500, and takes about 3 weeks.

You can buy new Konis for a Boxer on-line at www.koni-na.com. You can also buy the same new Konis cheaper at TRutlands. I got a quote from Ted for all 6 shocks, all bushings and spring boots(upper and lower) for $1200.00.

I am the sales manager for Kinesis Motorsport. One of those F40's belongs to Chris Parr, one was Anthony Almada's before he sold it and the other one belongs to someone who has Lindsey Racing in Louisiana take car of it.

Apparently just after my car was picked up in Costa Mesa, the truck expereieced difficulty with the hydrolic lift, couldn't load any more cars. So instead of going up to Oregon, the truck headed back to its base in Orlando.

I received a call this morning from George, a driver for Exotic Car Transport. He was in the neighborhood, had my car.

I met him about two hours later, and was presented my car. My knees buckled, my heart beat faster.

    So the Boxer is home.

Murph: thanks for the photos. It could be the same car. The previous owner's name was Jim.

The problem with driving the car this weekend is twofold: I am moving, this weekend is the scheduled time, and the weather here in south Florida has been very wet with sporadic hail. So, patience will be the project.
