My boss at work is bestfriends with a guy who owns a silver SLR. I haven't seen the car but the owner is trying to sell his car and he let my boss borrow his car a few weeks ago to see if he wanted to buy it. He didn't bring the car by work but according to him the car is imported from the US and it's pretty beat up. I'm not sure if this is the same car but i'll ask my boss what other cars this guy owns.

Here is your answer, but short and sweet, 95 RON is equal to 91 octane using the usual measurement system of North America RON+MON/2 :

To determine your vehicle's octane requirement, look at the manufacturer's recommendation in your owner's manual. Most auto manufacturers recommend 87 octane gasoline, as measured by the (R + M) / 2 method on a test engine under defined operating conditions. If the vehicle knocks on the recommended grade, a higher octane grade should be selected. Some foreign vehicle manuals recommend a Research Octane Number (RON) instead of the more common octane rating that appears on most gasoline pumps. As a rule, the recommended octane rating can be determined by subtracting four (4) from the recommended RON number. A vehicle that calls for "91 RON" should use 87 octane gasoline (as measured by the (R + M) / 2 method). Using a higher grade than is required will not usually increase performance. However, if the vehicle is equipped with knock sensors, as many late model vehicles are, a higher octane grade may enhance performance.

I have been doing some reading on the internet since I posted the question and I gather that using 94 octane gas in an engine that requires 91 octane will have no significant increase in performance because the engine is optimized on 91 octane. Reading your response above, you indicated that engine performance may be enhanced. Please elaborate.

    Nice pictures Samimi.

Spotted a few nice cars tonight. I went out for dinner at Il Giardino (always have the hottest cars in Vancouver parked in front) on Hornby St. and spotted a silverstone F430, actually had a chance to look at it up close as it was parked infront. Also spotted a greyish Bentley GT near Robson and the most interesting spot of the night was a red F430 or 360 with a big spoiler on the rear and a bodykit. It had BC Plates but could this be the same F430 from ZR? I couldn't slow down enough to actually get a good look because the driver was driving real slow up W. Georgia.

I'm not sure as to the Richard Gere likeness but if you are referencing the Pretty Woman movie that was done using a newer Stevens styled S3.

The gold one shown was recently listed on ebay I believe. Very low miles and original paint I believe.
