I owned both cars...at the same time for a while too. Great cars, miss them both. I think I have a picture of them both in my profile. I installed a Tubi on the 328 GTS, and a Capristo on the F355 spider. Regardless of their current performance measurement, they are still incredible cars to drive, and beautiful from every angle.
Might check this listing for BC and the PNW: Harrison's Auto Event List | Harrison's B.C. & N.W. Washington Event Schedule Varioius small events but nothing specific to Italian cars. The show and shine in North Vancouver's waterfront park might be worth attending, even if just for the location. Easily accessible by car from anywhere in Vancouver or by taking the SeaBus from downtown Vancouver. You can always check out the cars dealerships off Burrard St - Ferrari, Lambo, Porcshe. all within a couple of blocks. Close (walkable) to downtown Another F-chatter and I will be heading to Everett, WA - about 2 hours from Vancouver - for this event: FHCAM - European Theater Day
Hi guys, anybody had significant increase in ICBC renewal? Just got my notice today, and the premium increased 80% from last year ($2k becomes $3.6K). No ticket, no claim, nothing at all. Is this normal?
ICBC has recently doubled the collision premium on anything over a $100k, my coverage for collision comp. etc has gone from $3000 to $5600 last month,,,with full discount
Wow, that's quite shocking. Whether it reflects risk or a cash grab is debatable would require actuarial and/or underwriting skills to determine. How do the ICBC optional coverage premiums compare with private carriers? I can't imagine the new provincial government will be interested in ICBC premiums for optional coverage on cars of $100k when, apparently, the whole system in near collapse due to the costs of bodily injury claims and years of money being siphoned off to general revenue. I renewed the ICBC collector insurance on my 328 earlier this month. As ICBC stated in press releases months ago, there was no increase in collector insurance. Under $800 for $5 million TPL, $300 coll and $300 comp. Good deal.
I see. So the target is cars over 100K. I have no collision, means the basic insurance also almost doubled. Now what happened to cars below 100K, no increase?
I'm not sure about the $100k threshold. I just purchased a G550 at $135k (before sales taxes) and the insurance with $300 collision deductible, $5M 3rd party and regular (can't remember) comprehensive coverage, all from ICBC, for a grand total of approximately $2,800 or just under (pleasure use only). Regular work use would be another $150. My F430 renewal notice just came in for September at a hair below $2,500 with same coverage as above. Overall, just a minimal increase. I believe the threshold is $150k, not $100k. I only purchased the G550 to avoid the double insurance rates otherwise, I would have chosen the G63, which had a base price around $154k.... Cheers FN
This means I got scr*wed. They are being personal with me. Here's my details : 2014 S63 : 2016 = $1,200. 2017 = $2,300. 2013 458 Spider : 2016 = $2,000. 2017 = $3,600. These are all basic policy only with $5 million 3rd party. So there is no coverage for my cars. And I have full discount. How come your 430 is just $2,500 with coverage while my 458 is $3,600 with NO coverage? I wrote a letter to ICBC asking why my renewal was hammered 80%. The reply asked me to talk to the auto plan broker. I'm confused because to my knowledge, it is ICBC that gives price, not brokers. What can I do in this kind of mess?
I've seen numbers a lot higher than this for 458 level cars. The Liberal transportation minister seemed to want to open competition on basic insurance, starting with the $150k+ cars. It seems ICBC is having troubles pricing these policies, and it's politically an easy sell. We'll see what the NDP do with the ICBC file.
Hang on....it's a minority government...politics both sides of the border are fascinating at the moment. Let's all hope that everything calms down.
Ok, got a clear answer from ICBC. All cars 2010 up and $100,000 up, are doubled. Brought to you by the BC Liberal, guys. They took the cash, and now we have to pay it. Isn't this an extra tax?
Interesting....my bud's 2014 458 was hammered right from the get go when he insured it in 2014. He paid approximately $3600 for insurance from ICBC but that only provided him with a maximum of 1,500kms annually. I should find out what his insurance premiums are now.... I guess my older 430 is off their radar so to speak just because of the depreciation but I'm sure it would be just as expensive to repair..... Being a tricolour paint, I'm certain that it would cost more than a regular paint job. As for the extra tax, absolutely, this is an extra tax. Dumb ass Christy Clark was trying to appeal to the masses with another version of the "wealth" tax, but on cars.... With the NDP in power, of sorts, I'm sure these Communists will find other ways to attack perceived wealth! Cheers FN
People will start to stay away from daily driving cars over $100K. Nobody wants to become atm machine for the empire. Before this, I always maintained the 458 with full year insurance, even I don't drive in winter. Now I also take out my calculator, from early Dec to March, I will pull out. I can't imagine how much I'd need to pay if there is a collision coverage. Back in 2013, they quoted me $12K. Now must be at least $20K. LOL. Is there any other province with higher insurance rate of luxury cars than BC? If not, then the slogan Big Cash has become graB Cash.
Been a while since I last posted. Rest assured, it's not exotics being charged a lot. I recently bought our old, company pick-up truck and was quite shocked at how much the ICBC agent quoted me. It's a 1990 GM Sierra 2500 3/4 ton and with only $1M third party coverage, no collision or comp, full 43% discount... $1300/yr. The insurance is way more than what the truck is worth! Good thing I got it for next to nothing!

Lovely Giallo 488 GTB on Alberni street this morning. I'm not a huge fan of the black roof but still amazing car to see at 8am! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Going through some photos on this rainy Vancouver day and came across these that I took at the Fathers' Day Italian car show in North Vancouver in 2000. Mix of Ferrari, Maserati and Alfa. Ok, now I'll complain about ICBC. My 2018 F150 was $2500 for the year. Seems high too me for a truck. Maybe its because its owned by my business and not personnel, but still, its a truck.
I am pretty certain that is my former red/tan 1978 308 GTS parked next to Roy Kan's F348 Spider. That was the first of about 9 consecutive trips from Seattle I took to attend that show. I used to organize a large contingent from our local FCA chapter to come up....great fun.
