I think the distinction needs to be made between Pininfarina designed Ferrari’s and those from the post Pininfarina era. The 458 was the last supercar designed by Pininfarina and the 488 and F8 were very close in design language as an appropriate evolution. All beautiful, aggressive, and filled with class and art. The new design language of Ferrari’s in house design shop that put together the SF90 and 296 is incredibly muted and appears so androgynous and uninspired. They look like any supercar with a Ferrari badge, they don’t look like …. a Ferrari. IMO.
Unfortunately again, you are wrong. Because the SP90 relates to the J50 which relates to the 288 GTO which relates to the 308 which relates to the 246 Dino which relates to the 275 GTS I just showed you. They are all connected. In fact, they are more connected SINCE the J50 than before the J50. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferrari styling is definitely more restrained. As mentioned, I like the SF90 but it just didn’t inspire me to open my wallet the same way other Ferrari models have. Also, the SF90 and other hybrid supercars represent the start of a new era so there’s a solid runway of time to experience and acquire them. In fact, technology will improve so quickly that one may be better off sitting out these early generation models. I’ve instead diverted my supercar funds towards the last and best of the ICE, as well as a few classics. “If you can, you should, while you still can”. - Chris Harris
My wife and I saw it in person and it was underwhelming and it had every CF option available. No unattactive but hardly inspiring or incentivizing a purchase. Absolutely of no interest.
The connection of the SF90 to any of these cars from yesteryear is simply marketing language by Ferrari’s esteemed marketing department. it is not a matter of being right or wrong - these are opinions and how one views styling is completely subjective and valid. The SF90, I believe, is incredibly boring in appearance, as I have made clear. My opinion, which is shared by some on FerrariChat over the last two years, is that the subdued styling of the SF90 is simply uninspiring. These are just opinions and are equally as valid as those who love the styling.
LOL I've owned a 246 Dino GT way before they were "fashionable". I assure you no "marketing person" gave me my observations of Ferrari's design ethos since the 70's. You are just like those who looked at a Daytona vs Countach and said "its dull / boring". Well, I can tell you from driving each, the Daytona is a far superior car to drive but its "less flashy'. Which do you think is more important?
Daytona vs Countach is a competition of which drives less worse. It’s garage art 99% of the time and for me, I’d rather open the door and see a Countach.
My point is that being objectively better doesn’t make something more desirable. We’d all be driving Porsches in that world.
I think theSF90 styling is color dependent....the 275 NART spyder would still look gorgeous in baby-diarrhea brown.
I have seen it in person and it still looks awful. The front whiskers, the weird square taillights and the triangular engine cover are the issues. The side view is the only thing they got right. The drivetrain is very impressive.!
the Daytona drives great. a pure thoroughbred. doubt youve driven one. they won at Le Mans against much younger competition.
Here's a very cool video C8 Stingray and C8 Z06 on the Nurburgring, somewhat related to thread title... Corvette C8 ZO6 vs. Corvette C8 Stingray | Sound Comparison at the Nurburgring - YouTube
@jimmyb you might want to go over to the Porsche 992 GT3 forum on rennlist.com...they are dragging your beloved C8 Vette and upcoming C8 Z06 through the mud over there. ;-)
