Dear F-chat members, I asked that question in a thread but nobody answered me. What is that strange 90's cell phone on the rear bumper ? thanks.
I think it's cool. I got it right away. It's a gimmick but so are the buttons on the steering wheel and we all think that's cool now too.
Last I looked, Ferrari were big into F1. The rear light is a direct link to the sport and IMHO looks great!!!
If you want to see a stupid gimmick, just look at the "protective cover" of the Aventador's starter button. They all do stuff like this to impress people. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, the interior of the Aventador looks like a first year design student did it -- who had a love affair of the movie "Top Gun". But the outside is well done.
My theory is now that its impossible to use the cars anywhere near their potential on the public roads they have to compensate by displaying totems. Call it external validation.
Taste is so personal! Even though it´s a cool detail, I really think this "F1" cue is out of place aesthetically, maybe if it was integrated as part of the bumper... but it looks like it was just glued at last minute over the bumper.
I don't get that. Why should the F12 have to compensate for 740 bhp? It is just a little design gimmick, a visuel nod to the Formula 1 racing car. No more, but certainly no less.
Wait until the aftermarket grabs a hold of the so called fog light. Expect some flashing with strobe light effects emitting from it. I sure hope this does not happen.
Even Apple can make some business here.... "Buy a Ferrari F12 and get an iPhone on the bumper for free!" LOL
I don't mean to make more out of it than it's worth. Back when the cars' capabilities could be used ( and seen ) on the street these visual clues weren't needed. In effect their actions spoke for themselves. Look at the interior details of a fifties era Vignale bodied car and you'll see that "jewelry" is nothing new. It's cool there and homage details are something of a nifty insider reference now. I just prefer something a bit less cartoonish and more subtle in appearance.
Agreed. Additionally the thing serves a function, an important one. It's not as if this is a magnetic stick on vent.
