Suggesting that copyright would have been invoked against a party engaged in on-going discussion based on expressed interest in a product which they have packaged for presentation to the copyright holder is ridiculous.

Are we to assume the MTI Cheetah arrived in Sant Agata completely unannounced?

Where has it been stated anything was done without permission? Talks were ongoing, and as we all know anyone can print up anything to say anything, and we are told their contact at Sant Agata encouraged same.

It was done on the basis of hoped-for collaboration, and Lamborghini's committed involvement was to be based on the results of showing the vehicle at Geneva to see if there was any interest. There was none, and that was the end of any hoped-for collaboration, for all intents & purposes. Other than provide a space on the Geneva show stand, and attempt to rectify problems with the running gear in its workshop, I don't see how the MTI Cheetah had any more Lamborghini linkage than, say the BMW M1, or the Fiat 127 Rustica (which was actually assembled at Sant Agata).

Joe, I have a direct question for you..it would be nice to get a direct answer...

If this "Cheeta" is of no value and is nothing to do with Lamborghini....

Then why would you have even, as you have stated, "wasted" any time researching it when it was "offered" to you as you state 6 months prior to me. You claim to have dis-continued your chase of it for you and "some of your clients" as there was no paperwork to substainate this was the one and only Cheeta.

It appears to me that you would not have even troubled yourself with a 5 minute phone call in reagards to this machine based on your recent comments that it has no value or link to Lamborghini what so ever. I may be mis-understanding your position on this...

It has gone from "lots of research", to only valued if paperwork can be linked, to no value at all. So in your thoughts which is it..

No value at all to Lamborghini history?

Value if documented paper trail as the first and only Cheeta displayed in Geneva by Lamborghini?

Had no influence what so ever in the development of the LM and its eventual final production unit brought to market?

    Very simple & direct answer:

Because I have an interest in all things Lamborghini, I specialize in them professionally, love them personally, & I have a sense of duty to the community-at-large to ensure that Lamborghini history is not misrepresented.

I'm not just here to see what car I can make a buck off.

PS - I think you keep missing the "h".

The only person performing a song & dance is you, by suggesting you have corroborating historical documentation, and then not disclosing it to the community at large.

Show documentation and let the world (not just myself) decide what value the vehicle has. Then the questions can be answered.

I suggest you do the following: Put up or shut up.

As for my role here, clearly its beyond the scope of your comprehension.

I'm surprised the Mopar faithful are not all over this thing given it has a Chrysler 360cid engine and 727 auto transmission, not to mention the Torsion bar suspension. It seems more of a Chrysler than anything else.

I could be wrong as I have not gone back to re-read the thread but I thought Joe said he was interested when offered the vehicle but with the documentation or lackthereof provided he could not establish a tie between it and Lamborghini and passed on the deal. I believe he is waiting to see any new discoveries in documentation to change his mind. I hope this helps somewhat.

Correct..and I asked, based on his info..what he values it at..three basic questions..that take three basic answers..

I can ONLY assume that Joe's reference to the vehicle having value IF the "so called" paper trail exsists..if not he would have never even wasted his time checking it out...at least thats what I gather from his comments..but I am not sure..

So I guess we can make it even easier

    1) As it sits, say no documentation what so ever..its just the Cheeta that is know for all its publications and press it has recieved..whats a guesstimate value

    2) As it sits with FULL documentation proving its ONE and only, the one that sat on the Geneva Show floor, the one that was reverse engineered at Lamborghini, the one that Lamborghini paid $250,000.00 for research, development and bringing it to Geneva then to their factory ( of course a lot more there but just a quick tounge in cheek description)...so whats that worth

I think EVERYONE including myself KNOWS it does not have a Lamborghin motor, nor was built at the factory...There is not disputing those facts...however at least IMO it was linked to Lamborghini, was in their possession, they were invloved with it, it carried Lamborghini badging on it at one time, was in their factory, they worked on it etc etc..and IMO played a MAJOR role in the production and finished product that we know as the LM trucks..it was the first "in the flesh" piece of equipment that spawned the thought patterns and further development into the LM.

So forget everything else..just based on this..the two now very very narrow questions are very easy to answer in less then 5 words..at least you would think so.

    Exactly!

How hard can the English language be to understand?

And I'm not falling for Roy's bogus attempt to get a free appraisal with his 2 questions nonsense :)

Hey Roy, I said it before and I'll say it again: put up or shut up.

Show us documents if you have anything new. Your song & dance makes it painfully clear you have nothing.

I'll be the first to acknowledge genuine documentation which can be corroborated that tells us anything different.

But dont tell us the Lamborghini badging was put on in Sant Agata. It was put on in San Jose by MTI.

i have seen and heard of history "evolving" in schools in some big southern states...it is alarming to watch!

i like to think that Joe's interest in seeing to it that lamborghini history does similarly "evolve" is his generous contribution.

    best,

Stop assuming. You are wrong. Again.

I check out LOTS of classic vehicles, perform due-diligence, speak to period people, track down period documents, file my findings. Whether I am involved in the sale of the vehicle or not! As a historian I have been doing this for nearly 25 years!

Hey Roy, its not all about the sale :)

I agree it's pretty cool but what it is and what it isn't is important and I'm with Joe in that if there are any historical documents that help to answer that question I'd like to see them.

I also personally don't understand not showing them. I've always posted photo's and documents that have bearing on the cars I own and have found that a lot of interesting things can be learned by doing so.
