You can tell by my handle that I'm a big fan of the 250 series Ferraris. I'm also a big fan of fine 1/18th scale cars and so far haven't been able to acquire a good 1/18th scale Ferrari 250 diecast of any kind.

I've given up on Exoto which has been promising us a 250 GTO and a SWB for years but maybe there's hope. I just got a mailer from Replicarz about new issues coming from CMC. CMC models are quite beautiful and comparble IMO to Exotos (I have the Auto Union Type C). They are taking pre-orders for the long rumored 250GT SWB (red) @ $199.00 to be delivered Oct or Nov '05.

I am gonna jump right on that and cross my fingers that it's going to really happen. Replicarz does not charge your CC until they send the order out.

The SWB is the quintessential Ferrari IMO, it's the car that I see in my mind when I hear the word "Ferrari" without any qualifier.

    I can't wait.

Great. I too have been waiting for Exoto and have given up hope. Thanks for that. I've wanted a good quality 1/18 of the best ferrari made :D

I've heard at a collectors fair that the SWB will be available for Christmas this year for Holland, so I'm looking forward to that too. I'm wondering how many colours the CMC SWB will become available in and if all the little differences between the cars will be replicated in the models.

I, too, am ready to fire off an order as soon as it becomes available. I'm a bit reticent about pre-ordering (have been waiting on Minichamps 911SC over a year), and hope the price tag will keep the demand reasonable.

The SWB will be one centerpiece of my humble collection, and as close as I will probably get to owning one of my favorite all time automobiles.

    Anyone have any prototype photos?

The mailing I recieved had no photos of the 250GT but did have photos of their upcoming Maserati 250F due out in July/Aug, it looks fantastic. There's also a Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage due out in Dec, no photos of it but it could be a real beaut.

CMC's website shows only the box art (red car), go to "in preparation".

I dunno about colors, typically CMCs only come in one color but their new 300SLR offers about five different colors.

    Andy,

We have the CMC Ferrari 250 SWB in our product line as well. CMC is one of the top 1:18 scale diecast manufacturers. Highly detailed models are their specialty. Unfortunately their product line is very limited, but they are slowly expanding it. Mostly German cars. The box art is all that we have to show for the car right now as well. Hopefully when CMC gets closer to releasing it, they will have better photos to send us. According to the photos they have released, it looks like the Maserati 250F will be their best effort yet.
