Yah....fisheyeye lenz....how about a hint? I'm off to Vaca 2morrow and cant leave you hanging. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A bigger faster TWIN? Looks like it's doing Fire bombing duty. SWITCHES can probably identify that cowling but is in Ore for X-mas and I can't reach him. I'm out of my league on this. B-26 Maurader is about the same size and I don't think it's really faster so I dunno......................... I'll have to do more research.
So I'm thinking Looney Toons cartoons and the "Skunk" or little BEAU pepe' Bristol Beau Fighter Edit, Not the skunk, THE CAT. Grumman F7F TigerCat!! I'm sure it's faster but is it really bigger than a B-25?
Ah you're killin me. That means it's a Lockheed. Okay , Google Lockheed. Are we still talking a TWIN?
The Hudson, Ventura and Neptune don't fit. You know i could be watching a really cool show on TV right now.
You're getting me back for those "hair" jokes aren't you? I forgot to add the Harpoon. All those others are slow recon types. I'm not looking at four engine types but I know some Connies were used for fire bombing. They are BIG and fast.
I think this is it.... Maybe? The "Lockheed P2V-5F" ?? What say Sparky? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Lodestar is too slow and doesn't look much bigger. The number they gave was 265 MPH. B-25 300 max
BINGO. Atta boy Charlie. Ya had it DJ. Pix via my sons friend Jim Ferrara from Dixon, ca. He is rt seater for Neptune Aircraft outta Misoula and provided the pix. I was a bit confused about the throttle layout in the first and second pictures. The second shot showed some extras hanging down. Never new about jet assist on those birds. THAT must be a ride and a half after drop.
Wow! What great pix!! Hope they saved that house... As for me, that was just a lucky guess..., but it all fit together. twin, firefighter, Prop, just slightly behind the side window.....Lockheed... quick search for "firefighting tankers" on airliners.net.......
Airliners.net. Have to remember that. Off to the hanger tomorrow...y'all be safe out there kids. Seeya DJ. ss
Going back a few pages - post number 247 - no not a 747 - nor Air force One anyone- anyone? PS - the Neptune was very good!
