Yes, I noticed that just as I hit the send button..... Turned around, and deleted it. Guess I'm just not fast enough.... Age does that to ya.... Skyraider
OK.... let me try once more... Hopefully this time, I'll get it right. Er... no, it's not the F-86 cloned, even tho the canopy takes that similar shape. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Do away with my previous answer....!! Cause ...... on second thought, it's an F100-D. (Hope I'm fast enough with this reply...) Skyraider
Pretty unique cockpit with the yoke. Only found in the RAMP upgraded U-2 - Good one! Image Unavailable, Please Login
But I think that's it! At least, it is for my list of unique cockpits... Now I'll have to go searching.....the web.............
Our first contestant may have been a double ugly elephant, but its pilots swore by it, and still do (though not in the US after 2004) The second will look familiar to those who guessed at an earlier thread, but it isn't a repeat. This aircraft was one of whose pilots experienced extreme control stiffness in high speed dives and thus helped give rise to the idea of a "sound barrier." The third is probably an easy guess, but its a personal favorite. It has the distinction of being the only weapon specifically named in a peace/disarmament treaty. Looking at the circular yoke I am guessing the second is a version of the Spitfire and the third is a B-52.(The Big Stick or affectionately known as the BUFF)
Was gonna call you "Hey" then thought of Ray, maybe even Jay, But..... If you say your name is Mr. Johnson, I'm gonnal feel like I'm in a 60's TV comedy skit..... Apologies for gettin the name misspelled. The "A" is nowhere near the "O", so I can't claim "typo error".... Will just have to admit to a brain fart... Skyraider
Looks like the MightyMcDonnelDouglassPhantomTwoAllWeatherFighterBomberMostlyBomber The most signifigant fighter aircraft of the second half of the 20th Century ...and it's a Rhino best rt Wild Weasel
Wow, that didn't take long at all. Spasso got #3 (which I almost gave away by loading a pic that had the B-52 emblem on its controller) and SNJ5 got #1. #2 remains elusive, however. ...
Great guess, Sparky. But, alas, no. Other, better, hints. Both to do with names: Its name was recently been pressed into service once more. The aircraft in question did go through a name-change after getting a new wing, all the better to handle high speeds. The change was a small one, and gave the airplane the same name as a Shakespeare play.
Well - since most of you will not be familiar with, nor agree on the identity of the "Much ado about nothing" airplane, I can only venture a guess that this cockpit is a Hawker Tempest. Looks a little like this one: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hints: Manually cranked full span droop flaps & the trim wheels are a manufacturer givaway, in fact many of their cockpits have this 'look'. Image Unavailable, Please Login
