Just a reminder to everyone that the Colorado Grand ( www.coloradogrand.org )is being run this week. The cars will be finishing Friday afternoon, the 19th, at the Vail Cascade resort. Many if not most of the participating cars will be on display Saturday morning, the 20th, in Lionshead. It's a great excuse for a quick run up to Vail. Ron Hetherington
Weather permitting I will be running up to Vail the morning of Saturday, the 20th to enjoy the cars on display. If anyone would like to create a time to meet in west Denver and run with me simply let me know.
I saw a beautiful '30s era Bentley at the factory outlet stores today in Silverthorne...I suspect it was on it's way to the Grand and just needed a clean pair of underwear
Here is a teaser of this years line-up.(Sorry my camera doesn't like the lighting) Oh and Derek I hope you like the 200 S, just transfer the money to my Nigerian bank account Have fun Ron! Simply amazing. I really need to make it up there next year to check out the cars. Thanks for the pictures.
The tour left from Vail this AM. Tour route, times and stops are fairly closely guarded to keep it a private event. The "Concours d'NON-Elegance" show will be in Lionshead at Vail from 8AM-1PM Saturday Sept 20th. A MUST SEE event as the cars come back filthy from 1000 miles through the mountains. Dave
Here is the schedule for those of you that requested it: Tues, 9-16-overnight stop in Durango Wed, 9-17- cars depart Durango; lunch in Lake City; overnight stop in Crested Butte Thurs, 9-18- cars depart Crested Butte; lunch in Hotchkiss; overnight stop in Grand Junction Fri, 9-19- cars depart Grand Junction; lunch in Meeker, return to Vail Sat, 9-20- cars displayed to public from 9:00am to 1:00pm, Lionshead Village, Vail They are welcoming folks to come out to see the cars at all of the lunch stops. If you want more specifics you can call Leslie at 720-733-6776. Hope this helps. I am coming in from Toronto late Friday and leaving for Vail early Saturday am...I think taking my Gallardo. If anyone wants to run up in your fun car with me, simply let me know. Going from Vail late Sat afternoon to Aspen to overnight and then back over the pass Sunday am. Must enjoy the roads before the snow comes! Should be a great run, so join in the fun if your schedule allows.
Yesterday the Grand cars were heading east on Colo Hwy 82 between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale. Beautiful day. We were on our way to hike up to Hanging Lake and then to pool in Glenwood. Life is good. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes. Life is hard. Above Hanging Lake is a rock where the water shoots out. You could take a shower under the falls but there is so much water it would probably kill you. And a picture of Glenwood Canyon and Colorado River near the Hanging Lake trail head. Colorado is the most beautiful place...really. It won't kill you....it just isn't the most pleasant experience. Definitely a beautiful area! Back on topic, the Grand should have their last leg today!
I created a post in the Vintage section. Check it out at: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=214755 -F
It was a blast. Perfect weather every day. Amazing cars. Unbelieveable organization. Outstanding People!
Thanks for posting. I drove the 360 over to Vail and got there about 12:30. Some of the cars were already trailered but most were there. Have a great drive home over Tennessee Pass, Leadville and Independence Pass. Some large patches of golden aspen trees. spectacular. Life is good. there were some interesting non-Fcars. Some Bugattis, 2 Dellahayes (sp?), some intersting Jags, Porsches and MB...I liked the Fcars the best of course. If there is interest I will post the pics. Let me know. Ciao and Forza Ferrari
As said, awesome collection of F-cars & others. We drove up Friday night and stayed at the Lodge in Vail Village. It made for a relaxing morning enjoying all the cars before heading out after a late lunch. Picts to follow...
There can never be enough pictures! I bet Independence was beautiful, when do they shut it down for the season?
