you know, with all of the medical breakthroughs we've made, i can't believe we haven't found a cure for the common cold yet. (yes, i know, there's 50 gajillion viruses out there that cause it, and can't stop all of them) i had trouble sleeping last night, felt like i was getting one, and sure enough i woke up and i've got one. took a couple of mucinex, all they did was make me drowsy, and now it's worn off. anyone have a remedy for a cold?

If you keep your fingers out of your eyes and nose you have a very small chance of catching a cold. No toucha the mucus membrane

Are you sure it's a cold and not allergies? Get some Afrin or similar nose spray to open up your nasal passages.

My mom makes Spiced Tea for me every year. It's just instant tea powder mixed with Tang powder. Scoop 6-8 scoops add a ounce (or your prefered amount ;)) of whiskey and it works similar to a hot toddy.

If it makes you feel any better, I woke up at 3am and pretty much didn't go back to sleep until my alarm went off at 6:15. I'm exhausted and have to work late tonight.

It wouldn't be profitable to cure it anyway - or not nearly as profitable as the status quo. Treating the symptoms is a huge industry.

The cold is linked with humans, impossible to cure, it can survive an ice age and affects each of us slightly differently. Live with it now because it could kill you when you're old.

Proper Carne Asada Burrito or Tacos. Must have cilantro, onion, lemon, as those key ingredients have magic powers.

No remedy here sorry mate. :):)

I just plow through them as best I can. :D:D

We have actually been given some new flu-shot at work this year. They reckon it will beef up your immune system to fight the 'new' virus out there etc...etc...

Every year it is available and they reckon it only makes your immune system stronger. It is not voluntary, most people didnt get it. I did and I havent had the flu or a cold since. Got the shot January this year. Will see how we go next year. :):)

it's really not as bad as i thought it was going to be when i first had the symptoms. i tried afrin for the first time a couple of days ago, other than the fact my nose feels like it's got flames coming out of it when i spray the stuff, it works like a charm. as for the alcohol, the only stuff i have available to me is some rum i got in the dominican republic, so it's worth a try, i don't have to get up tomorrow anytime before noon, so i'm good :D

Haha, I scheduled my classes after 1pm. :D I don't like getting up early, I just go from around 2-> 6:30 ish. Much better for me, just like today, I can wake up and study all day, and run all the errands like talking to my advisor.

    and..back on topic:

Mucinex doesn't do anything AFTER the cold, you should've taken it when you were feeling it, IMO that works the best for me, everytime I felt like I was sick, I just took one, and I felt way better, and I never got drowsy from Mucinex. Or take a hot shower, drink some tea or coffee with lots of black pepper and honey (sort of indian style remedy:D)

I honestly haven't had a cold or the sniffles since I started drinking Vitamin Water about a year and a half ago. $1 per bottle at Walmart.

i'm a sinuze patient. i went for the surgery last year, somewhere March i think. all was ok, till my house went thru some renovations, and teh sinuze just sorta came back. sometimes, i take Clarinese, or Polaramine pills. Polaramine knocks me off instantly. i normally take some sorta nasal spray to help clear the passage too.
