Incredible craftsmanship and ruins the car. Why? I love car audio. Love great sound and custom installs. But do it in an 80’s 5.0 Mustang. Not in Maranello’s finest! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ultimately it comes down to the basic fact that this car is about as suboptimal a platform for high quality audio as it gets. I mean, sure, I’m sure this build does sound really good……until you fire up the engine. This is a GTS with squeaks, rattles, and wind noise BEFORE you even get to how much the engine will drown out any perceptible quality above and beyond reasonable factory speaker replacements. Good use of space for the subwoofer, but yeah, total overkill.
What’s the theory behind putting the sub in the frunk? Sound will just flow thru hvac? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Will a sub be effective without a case? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sub sonic sound - 150hz and below is omni directional. Most sub enclosures are tuned for 120hz and below, so it becomes the “feels” as well as the bass. When enclosed in a trunk/frunk you need some type of passage or “port” to increase volume in the cabin of the vehicle. With a Tahoe/Suburban/Wagon/Suv of any type you have the large “volume” of the cabin and the sound wave reverb’s to fill the “arena” of sound and hear at lower volume with a much bigger feel and pounding of the bass. When packaging in a small area, feel is more of the goal because you just don’t have the arena of space to create the reverb and loudness of the music. Putting in a sealed frunk is stupid for lower volume quality, but you get lots of feels, especially if it is a well configured and tuned box that will play down below 80hz or less. This is a very basic description and fundamentals. But it does explain packaging, placement, thoughts and design of everything you have posted and shown. 30 years ago, the fiberglass frunk with large amp would have been desirable until I realized how much damage, weight and modification was happening to the design of the car. That blue one is well, well done and performs sound and design well, but at the expense of the originality and design of a lightweight, simple car. Ruins it in my opinion. My Tesla has great sound and design. All purpose built. My suburban has the best bass, due to size, volume and simple design - loud! And clean. I guess the Tesla does too, all hidden and well thought out. Plays loud and clean. Ferraris are made to be driven. Buy another car for Music or do an F12 or GTC Lusso. Some guys on here have incredible systems in those cars…. But hard to use for grocery shopping [emoji39] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Low frequency sound in an enclosed space has basically two modes. Every enclosed space has a a modal response. The lowest mode that such space can support is sound with a wave length twice the largest dimension of the space. In a space with largest dimension of, say, 5 ft, that would correspond to a frequency of 110 Hz. Below that frequency the space does not have sound waves. Rather, the sound is created by variations in pressure that are more or less uniform at at point in the enclosed space. When you put a sub in a funk the pressure variation in the funk either "leaks" into the cabin, because the funk is not truly sealed, or are transmitted by vibration of the structure of the car as a result of the pressurization of the funk.
Ok guys. I found my sub box. Sub will be facing wall or facing side hole already on the cover. Genius or what?? *This only applies to Berlinetta owners. Might be good enough for a 5”, or 2 5’s or smaller. That’s more than enough for me. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ok. I thought the same when I had a 2x6” sub box built for my w126 SEC. It was underwhelming. It just couldn’t go low enough or get loud enough. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Everyone has different taste, but the system I rigged up quickly 10 years ago with a pair of small subs worked perfectly fine for me. I’ll probably be upgrading to new speakers + tweeters as well as the best small subs I can find. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The previous owner of my spider had built a nicely crafted small enclosure that replaced the glove box. When the convertible boot cover is on you don't even know it is there. I only remember when I put the top up. Some day I'll put the glove box back in... or not.. and I'll hand it to the next owner like it was handed to me. Side not it's not really a sub enclosure just additional speakers between the seats.
Unless it is a 100lb magnet, 20” cone and a 5 cubic ft box, then everyone hears it! [emoji1787] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
