Saw the trailer for the dark knight, which is the title of the new Batman movie. I'm a big Batman fan to begin with, but this is going to be a fantastic one regardless:

The late Heath Ledger plays a brilliant joker, much more realistically than in some previous movies. A real psychopath. And Batman has some very neat gadgets again: The cool Batmobile from the last movie plus a bike with monster tires, just awesome.

But the best part is our wonderful city: In one scene Batman stands on top and at the edge of a sky scraper (Prudential building?) overlooking Chicago, err Gotham city. In broad daylight. No more hiding our city, but plain in sight in all its beauty. In another climatic scene the Joker has a showdown with Batman right in the middle of La Salle street, roughly where City Hall is with the CBOT as the backdrop. Again in plain daylight. They must have filmed this during some weekend.

    Can't wait to see it!

A couple late nights, we noticed lower Wacker was closed off due to filming. Another time upper wacker along the river was closed off and they had enough lights set up, it was like daylight there.... I never saw the batmobile though, was hoping to see it. This was a few months ago though....

I don't think the batmobile would handle very well in this snow and ice crap we are getting now... Maybe they are filming scenes with Mr. Freeze now ??? hahahaha.....

Sounds cool. Listening to reports, it sounds "darker" than past versions. Hope it's worth those nights of hovering helicopters at 3am!

Even though I don't live in Chicago... and the only time I was there was to cheer for the Sonics in the finals more than ten years ago- it was a beautiful city. I'm looking forward to this movie as well.

I can't wait for this movie! They were filming during the summer, couple of friends and I went downtown one night to check out the filming but most of the areas were closed off.

I have to say I agree.. later ones were too cartoonish, though I have to also say the tank he drove in the last movie was neet, but it's not a car..

Kelsa, the nose is a one piece tilt unit, there's enough room under there for a batjack, batkeg, and all sorts of implements :)

Something tells me that the producers will develop that. I hope. It will be interesting to see what it becomes.

Heath Ledger is creepy as the Joker. I was very unsure about what to think, but when I read about the (controversial) dedication he put into the role I realized that he was trying to portray him as the crazy psychopath that he was supposed to be. I was so used to the cartoony stuff that it took a while to catch on.

Now everytime I watch the trailer I get chills.

    He is just plain creepy.

    And I love it.

The Tumbler from Batman Begins has to be my favorite, something about the origin of that debunked military project I find fascinating.

    +1

That vehicle was more like an animal itself and so menacing. It is back in the latest Batman movie.

BTW: I finally thought of a way to bring some Ferrari content into this thread:

Who can name the movie in which a Batmobile raced against a Ferrari? Bonus points for the type of Ferrari.

Chelle, thanks for posting those great shots. I still have my Batman mask, ready for a foto shoot if some Batmobile owner lets me sit in his car. :) Seriously.

Well I don't know which movie Andreas, but I'm going up there tomorrow afternoon any aspects of the car you'd like to see a good pic of? This one has a complete, well finished interior :)
And I'm planning on begging the owner to bring it to the VA show... He seems to always have something neat up there at the shop, but 'm hoping I can convince him to show up with a couple batmobiles... the patients and a lot of us would love to see it. I didn't clean off my camera lens so the pics I took could have been better. I have high res copies though if you want

Rock Star, I believe, the one where the unknown musician takes over for the lead singer of a big band. Raced it against a Mondial convert of some type

Shots of the interior would be interesting. Also of what the car underneath looks like and any potential gadgets it has.

Having a Batmobile at the VA show? OMG! We were supposed to have one years ago at Jerry's airshow in MI, but sadly it never materialized. They seem to be around in the Midwest though.

    Dingdingding! Tillman scores!

The original Batmobile against a Mondial. Mondial takes the lead (after some numerous shifting action), but the Batmobile wins the day with firing the afterburner. Yeah, right. All in all a good movie and the race scene is actually well done for the most part.
