These USA spec cars don't excite me all that much. Ill-fitting big side marker lights, recessed front parking lights, engines fitted with primitive, power-robbing emissions controls (although admittedly most of these have probably been stripped off by now). I dunno, I just don't like the USA spec cars as much...

Just my $0.02. Now everybody can unload on me...

this car really makes you appreciate a good restoration or an original car with some patina to it!
the engine seems to be a mess from the photo but who knows how it runs?!
I absolutely can't stand that ferrari badge on the hood. the paint looks bad. white and black with tan carpets- even turns drunk chicks off!
the "ungo box" (which probably has been hacked by car thieves by now) has to go. nobody except john corbani parks their dino anywhere in public.
is it me or does the speedo look a bit crooked? also, the photos from their website confirmed my suspicions that there was a ferrari badge on the back as well. also, an "ungo" sticker in the rear windshield!
the tires look like garbage. and the color is off.
so, what's to like? they're asking 119k and that is relatively underpriced for a "driver" gts like this... maybe. that assumes the engine and everything else mechanical checks out.
here are a few more shots...

'appear to be the DOT-mandated reflectors. Those are the items that Verell was fabricating for the folks with USA-spec cars.

Man you guys are ROUGH, I would buy that and love it (if I had the money) and I would even park it everywhere right next to John's car.

Yeah, its got some cosmetic issues like a odd ext./int. color combination but I would drive it. I guess I am too much like John, these cars are meant to be driven not stored somewhere, I go crazy if I have not driven my Dino in a few days. That is the only item where John and I differ, I don't drive my Dino in the rain, it has enough rust already :) and I hate it during the rainy season when it stays parked for a week or 2.

This car is at least from the pictures in my opinion very nice looking driver, remove the extra reflectors and Ferrari badging, maybe even dye the leather a different color. If you want a concours car, ok it has problems if you want a driver, this car looks great.

First thing I do when I win the lottery is buy a GTS on the East coast and drive it home ! I figure it should not take more than a month or 2 to drive cross-country and see everything I want to see. I just have to buy a lottery ticket someday.

While I disagree with everything you say in P&R, I agree with what you say in regards to USA spec Dinos. The lighting, emissions, etc. suck big donkey nuts. Jon's restomodding of his GTS to Eurospecs is the shiznit. Four words, "USA spec cars suck".

    And another item to consider....

The Ferrari badge on the front is a different shape than the Dino badge. The original Dino badge sits in an "indent" that is a horizontal-rectangle in shape to accomodate the thickness of the Dino badge. To insert a vertical rectangle, that is, the Ferrari badge, would require one to cut out the surrounding area, and recreate a new indent and weld the new plate into the front clip. This is a major piece of work that is likely done when repairing damage, as in a front end collision. If sufficient bondo was used, one can create a recess for the vertical prancing horse badge.

I cannot believe that anyone would go to this trouble on a perfectly good front clip. It must have been hit and during restoration the vertical indent was created.

Once again the Dino crowd starts controversy!

The rear panel reflectors are correct and original, the side "boxer trim" is way off on the correct "line' that it should have been painted and the interior color of parchment (aka off white) is new to me, never seen one before, but that doesn't mean a whole lot...

PS - forget about miles...low mileage cars mean little to me...how does it drive?, does the clutch cable have any "gritty" feel to it, are the carbs properly tuned (easy to maintain if driven often), has an aftermarket ignition system been fitted (this is a good thing) and how are those second gear synchros?

The tires appear to be Goodyear Eagles. They have not been made Dino size in many years - at least 10, AFAIK. Could there be other deferred maintenance?

i was just looking for some new activity, i didn't mean to start a "bash this dino" thread.

the reflectors on the tail are dot reflectors, usa spec dino's had them.

i agree with the bottom finish in black being done wrong, it definitely takes away from the cars lines.

    I LIKE THE COCO MATS!!!

The exterior color is interesting, black is off. The interior is um...

But at $119K, you can fix 'er up and be in a really nice car for only $175K.

As to the general dissing of US cars, I say, DRIVE ONE THAT WORKS RIGHT before you dump **** all over them.

Come by my house this weekend, and I will forever dispell the notion that US spec cars are dogs.

I happen to like the recessed front signals on a US car, really I do.

    Dave M.

    HEY HAPPY THANKSGIVING DINO GUYS!!

AND, ACCORDING TO THE DINO REGISTER, ONLY 1K MILES ON IT SINCE 1995...

    HMMM......

wouldn't you put almost that many miles on it just getting routine maintenance?

Mines a euro and they all had the shorter ones long before then

early cars all wrapped in. somewhere along the line, the later euro cars had the shorter bumpres, while the us cars kept the long ones. the dino register addresses this issue on it's production highlights section.

yes, I was too harsh on the dino too! just thought it would liven things up. i happen to think that a dino like this would be a great driver if all of the mechanicals check out, it wasn't in a major accident and no rust.
dinos are meant to be driven as much as any other Ferrari. but i too agree with a lot of the comments that you have to look at this one as a driver and not a show car.
buy it now, drive it as much as you can. and when the values justify, fix the paint and other minor cosmetics that will enhance the value instantly.
or, this could be the next complete rebuild for OMGJON! that guy is a genius!
